Scrolling through LO documents lets horizontal/verlitacl lines appear/disappear with some ati video cards

I've always seen this problem, for as long as I can remember using
OpenOffice/LibreOffice, and some web browsers.  It's not just thin
horizontal lines that might disappear, but a corruption of line(s) of
text until you scroll them back off screen and on, again.

Completely different from mine, I have several systems all with
different graphics cards.

I'm more suspicious of something deeper within the graphics system.
