I assume you know that JD series Western Digital disks are in
compatible with some adaptec controllers. <br>

This may not be the case for you, as you would have already discovered
this. Still I was amazed these kind of problems still exist today.
This is the stuff of about 5 years ago.<br>
I'd go for the Intel RAID on the chipset, given my recent grievance
with the adaptec stuff (personal preference).<br>

If you're using SATA disks, they have no concept of master/slave in the
ATA sense. They are all masters, just on different ports (One disk per
SATA channel), so just pick one to be the RAID 1 Mirror master.<br>

Hmm, the next step is not my forte, so I too am interested in how to
install here.<br>

I would imagine it would be something like.... create a custom initrd
with the libs necessary to interact with the RAID container, but I'm
not sure how to do this either.<br>
