Now that F9 is out I thought I would build a new system.<br>
I want to use the AMD Phenom quad core cpu.<br>
I only upgrade hardware every few years so this is a big jump from Athlon 2500 with 512M memory.<br>

I have been researching which motherboard to get and keep running into snags.<br>
Newegg reviews have confused me.<br>
It seems that a lot of motherboards are NOT Phenom ready.<br>
Bad bios etc.<br>
How do you update the bios when it won't even post?</blockquote><div><br>Good quality mobo's like Gigabyte and ASUS can be flashed using a USB stick. The problems with Phenom compatibility is usually to do with the wattage rating of the CPU. 125W CPU's are a problem with low and mid-end class mobo's 89W and 95W ones are OK. I have a Gigabyte 690G chipset based board and I can confirm that the 95W CPU's work fine. The new 780G based ones are good too. The best mobo for the Phenom quad seems to be the MSI K9A2 Platinum - goes for 150-160$ online...The 780G goes for 80-90$.<br>
