but why isn&#39;t idenitfied by /dev/sda2 like partitions normally are? I&#39;m not understanding why a UUID is necessary, as opposed to a standard /dev/sd pointer to the root partition. <br><br>Basically how can I get this to work?<br>

Because the GRUB stanza you copied to boot F11 says:<br>

    root=UUID=7ba6f364-68c2-4dad-a54e-18c3464b0eb5<br>
<br>
</div>That is, it says root is identified by its UUID.<br>
