</div>You're right, this is strange. It sounds like it could be a<br>
permissions problem of some sort. The packages are there, they just<br>
can't be accessed because something has changed the access rights.<br>
<br></blockquote><div>I had not considered permissions but I will have to look into it. It seems the only other possibility at this time. </div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex;">
Does sox or audacity work for converting to mp3?<br>
<br></blockquote><div>I have not tried them but I had tried amarok and another music player to see if it was app specific. It's not. </div><div> </div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex;">
Do you have lame and libmad installed? These are other libraries<br>
that allow encoding and playing mp3s. I can't think about how they<br>
could be the cause of your problem, just suggest them as a wild<br>
possibility.<br>
<div><div></div><div class="h5"><br></div></div></blockquote><div>I do have them. The option to save as mp3 just does not appear in any of the sound apps I have. I have tried all the suggestions so far to no avail. </div>
<div><br></div><div>thanks . </div></div>
