I only have experience with Xen and libvirt on Fedora, but I guess that
does not makes much difference when talking about interactions between
libvirt and NetworkManager, right?

Well, this experience of mine is that, as soon as I install
libvirt-daemon-config-network, a bridge called 'virbr0' is automatically
created and all my guests can and actually use it by default.

Not sure. As I said, for having my Xen VMs connected to my local network
and to the internet, I don't need to disable NetworkManager any longer
(and that is true from Fedora 16, actually). For more complex stuff, you
might need to tweak the settings a bit more, but I've never done
anything more complex than what I said. :-)
