Fedora 18 Spins have been released at the same time as Fedora 18 GA:
2013 january 15th!
All the fixes released after this date are available through updates, as
you said, and there is no official re-spin of the Spin you mentioned,
because the F18-FEL-ISO will remain the same for the whole life of Fedora
18.

You can see it also in the second link, the report has been created at
2013-01-23, therefore after the FEL Spin release.
Finally I think the issue is more related to your VM than to Fedora, as you
mentioned also in your workaround. Bugzilla would be the right place where
posting bugs.
