Ever since I stumbled across this list, I seem to have major difficulties searching the archives. Say I want to see my posts to the list (they all have the same footer as below), I believe I could go to http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/ and enter "HaJo" as a search string. Searching in all sections, I get 0 results. Does the search engine ignore me by some reason? BTW -- I've been posting since about June, and when showing the archives sorted by author, I do find my posts. OK, not the most helpful to search for my own posts, but I do have the same issue when searching for given topics. Any other search engine out there indexing this list reliably? SATA optical drives

I'm currently running FC5, will probably upgrade to F7 in a couple of months. Unfortunately my CD/DVD rewriter appears to have died, before it's even seen a dual layer disk :'( SATA hard drives run without problems for me, but now that SATA optical drives are starting to appear in the shops, would it be OK to buy one of these and get rid of another wide ribbon cable? Is anybody already running them with Fedora? Thanks for any advice/experiences. Dave F

Gnome Nautilus and no thumbnails from connected Android storage

Hi guys. Despite having "Show Thumbnails => All files" in my Nautilus, I do not get thumbnails on my Android phone when connected via USB. That should work, in F34, right? many thanks, L.

How do I do a group reinstall of Xfce?

Hi All, I have both MATE and Xfce installed. If I boot into MATE, such that Xfce is not running, or not start a GUI at all, how do I do a group reinstall of Xfce? 32 bit pam-libs?

For a few days now, I've been getting update errors because (apparently) the 32 bit pam isn't yet in the repos even though the 64 bit version is newer: Problem 1: pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 has inferior architecture - cannot install both pam-1.5.2-13.fc36.x86_64 and pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.x86_64 - cannot install the best update candidate for package pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 - cannot install the best update candidate for package pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.x86_64 Problem 2: package libpwquality-1.4.4-7.fc36.i686 requires pam(x86-32), but none of the providers can be installed - package pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 requires pam-libs(x86-32) = 1.5.2-12.fc36, but none of the providers can be installed - cannot install both pam-libs-1.5.2-13.fc36.i686 and pam-libs-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 - cannot install the best update candidate for package pam-libs-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 - cannot install the best update candidate for package libpwquality-1.4.4-7.fc36.i686 Problem 3: problem with installed package pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 - package pam-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 requires pam-libs(x86-32) = 1.5.2-12.fc36, but none of the providers can be installed - pam-libs-1.5.2-12.fc36.i686 has inferior architecture - cannot install both pam-libs-1.5.2-13.fc36.x86_64 and pam-libs-1.5.2-12.fc36.x86_64 - cannot install the best update candidate for package pam-libs-1.5.2-12.fc36.x86_64 In the past these sorts of things have gone away if I waited a couple of days, but it has been doing this all week. Is a proper 32 bit pam going to land soon? I'm not sure why I currently have 32 bit pam installed, any drastic consequences for removing all the 32 bit pam packages? There certainly doesn't appear to be a vast number of packages dnf wants to remove if I say erase pam.i686 and pam-libs.i686.

Long timeouts on logging out/shutting down

I reported this on the Fedora KDE list a while back. Briefly, the kded daemon should die when the user session terminates, but actually waits around for up to 90 seconds before timing out. This blocks the system from shutting down, or from logging in the same user while the process is still running. This is happening despite KillUserProcesses being set to "yes" in /etc/systemd/logind.conf. The KDE list thread: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/kde@lists.fedoraproject.org... My KDE BZ report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456713 However I have come across a report from years ago that tells of a similar problem with GDM: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1341837 So it doesn't appear to be specifically related to KDE, or even kded as such. WebEx client no longer works on Fedora 36

Dear friends, Does anyone still have the official Cisco WebEx linux client work with Fedora 36? It used to work fine a month or so ago, but has not worked for me for the last two weeks (at least). Specifically, what happens is that the client opens up all right, but then when I either start or join meeting, the window tries to start and then everything comes crashing down. I am not sure what the problem is, and there are no error messages at all, but I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences and, more importantly, knew how to fix this issue. I am updated to the latest July version of WebEx and F36 (but for emacs, but that is not relevant). Many thanks and best wishes, Ranjan
