Cleaned up the compiler warnings issued by the HP-UX compiler.  There are some questionable suggestions.

Please search "ifdef NOTUSED" in the cvs diffs (comment #6).  I left such ones in the "ifdef NOTUSED".  Some compiler warnings look suspicious.  I ignored them and keep them in the code (the warnings are seen in the attachment in comment #7).

Attachment in comment #5 is the warnings with my notes (if any).
