I was performance test last week.
I want to migrate from SunONE 5.2 to centos-ds or 389 ds.

but SunONE 5.2 performance is GoooooD!!~~~~~.

why?

OS: redhat linux 5.9 or centos linnux 5.9
HW : Specifications are the same.

target Directory Server:
                                 SunONE 5.2 SP4 vs (centos-ds 8.1 or 389 ds 1.2.11)

tool : ldclt 4.3 : thread 1000, not each bind

rootdn: dc=example,dc=com
sub suffix : ou=user in 100,000 user entry

first test.

search base : dc=example,dc=com
filter : (&(objectclass=posixaccount)(cn=XXXXXX)) xxxxx Generated random.
           scope: sub

result :  SunONE 5.2 sp4
            access nentries=0 etime=0 ~ 2
            ldclt : 500 ~600 per thread

           centos-ds 8.1 or 389 ds
           access nentries=0 etime=0 ~ 7
           ldclt: 60 ~ 70 per thread

why? cause?

Careful - The old Sun DS license forbids publishing of performance comparisons.

Indexing?  What indexes do you have on SunDS objectclass and cn?  What is your allidsthreshold setting?
For RHDS/389 - what indexes do you have?  What is your idlistscanlimit?

Please provide any other cache or database tuning you performed on SunDS and 389.
