I hate to do this, but I'd really appreciate it if someone has
any
thoughs about my problem using the GUI admin console. I'm completely
stuck.
Check the access log for the DS from around the time of the console
login attempt. You should see a BIND dn="cn=directory manager" followed
by the result of that operation.
(In other words, "bump")
