Hi

My activities so far as

FEDORA AMBASSADOR

1.I was successful in converting projects running Suse/Debian to fedora at
my workplace but unfortunately these systems IP dont get updated in Smolt as
everything is behind proxy and receiving securiy updates and using latest
versions of gnome or kde doesnt seem to be a big necssisty  Hence most of
them run F9 and some of the projects use F8 and even F6 (due to customer
requirements) .

2. Have been part of the Fedora Free Media Program

3. i have done quite a lot of work in updating the wiki pages undert the
Ambassador Section.

4. I have been in talks with my company to conduct some Workshops as install
fests does not interest lot of them. Workshops would be more focused on how
to contribute to an Open Source Project and the point of focus would be
fedora.

5. I have been satisfying the DVD requests that i get from many people.

6. I interact with Susmit on quite a regular basis and help the community to
share some of the work on wiki pages under ambassador section.

7. I have participated in ambassador meetings and have given my opinions and
suggestions too. I am able to push fedora in my organization and use it in
the workplace for telecom projects.

DEVELOPER/CONTRIBUTOR

1. I have started to contribute to Packagekit

2. I write articles/HowTos to fedoraunity.org

3. I did some gardening work in the Wiki though i am not able to do it
currently.

4. I would like to act as a mentor in fedora but am not sure the contact
person for this.


WHAT I LOOK FORWARD TO ?

Currently i am not in need of anything apart from the support from the
community which i get when i need it :). I would like to continue my
efforts.

Hi,

I am a Fedora Ambassador from the United States, Colorado area to be more
specific.

So far my activities as Fedora Ambassador has been limited too:

1. Created several meetings with Colorado State University professors in
both Computer Science and Electronics and Computer Engineering departments.
The meetings were to first understand the usage requirements, next to
explain how fedora quickens deployment via Spins, and creating a centralized
repository to install from the network. The last part of the meeting was
explaining the benefits of using open source CAD tools such as Magic-VLSI,
gEDA and the many other tools. The next part was explaining the development
tools bundled with Fedora.

2. Created powerpoint slides explaining the benefits of GNU/LInux and Fedora
in corporate environment. These slides will be posted to my blog in the near
future.

3. Currently in talks with my employer to have classes for businesses
looking at using open-source in the workplace.

4. Got the ok to develop open-source applications without them being the
companies right to my applications.

5. I have been reading the meetings in the IRC but have not stated my
opinion much due to the latest project requiring the majority of my time.


Since I have a project deadline and I am debugging everything myself I have
not much free time elsewhere. I will have more time beginning Monday March
8th, 2009.

I think this mail was sent to people who haven't signed the CLA and
who weren't active for a long period.

This don't mean Inactive Ambassadors will be removed from the project,
but from the COUNTRY LIST.

If you have read past emails in this list and past FAmSCO IRC log, we
justified it because we received a lot of feedback from people who
were trying to get in contact with Ambassadors in Country List wiki
page and, without success, didn't receive any reply.

If you are an ambassadors (even if not active) you'll remain an
Ambassador, your name will not be shown in Ambassadors Country List,
that's all.

Each regional leader (Local Contact) is responsible to apply the
guidelines given by FAmSCo about the Country List' Wiki Page

This is very awkward undertaking.
I've been using Linux since my UG. And when I was in Bangladesh, I actively
participate
in Fedora activities, distributing CDs and encouraging my juniors to take
Linux as their
primary OS. We did good.

We should discuss on the minimum criteria to be Fedora Ambassador.

We aren't discussion about the criteria to be a Fedora Ambassador
here, only about the presence of the name in the Country List for
people that are not more active (that don't reply to direct emails no
more).

There isn't any reason to worry about your status as Ambassador.

FIRST: nobody want to remove someone from Ambassadors Project, and
nobody will do that. I, on behalf of FAmSCo, assure this.

SECOND: The email was send by APAC Local Contacts to APAC Mailing List
(according to a address taken by FAmSCo)! Someone has forwarded here.
(each region will apply the policy with their own schedule and the
interest will be direct contacted).

Actually, what you see, is direct to start creating an Ambassadors
Contact List (was country list).

Nobody will be removed: everyone in the project will keep its place.
This is just an initiative aimed to have a list with people that could
be contacted, in order to not have people (from the outer world and
ambassadors) complaining they don't receive any answer from their
country ambassadors.

Once again: NOBODY will be removed from Ambassadors. The goal of this
reminder (directed to APAC members by APAC Local Contacts) is to
understand who is reply to an email (Soon, I'm sure, everyone in APAC
will receive a personal email, so that even if someone isn't reading
the list he/she would be aware on what is happening).

workstations to Fedora :)
and I am organizing a free software study group, based on fedora :)
