Leader for the monthly meetings

Hi all,
We need for all three areas a leader and a co-leader or a replacement
for the new monthly Ambassadors Meeting. The leader hasn't to do all
stuff alone, of course. She/He is the person in charge about the
meeting but she/he can delegate the issues to ambassadors how are able
to help in the same region.
Your mission will be:
First part
- - Fix the time for the meeting in your region. Keep the wishes of your
ambassadors in mind, please.
- - Fix the day (check [1] for free time slots)
- - Invite all persons in your area to participate
and everything else in your head...
Second part
- - Collect the topic for the meeting
- - Send a reminder for the meeting
- - Update the wiki page
- - Chair during the meetings
- - Create a summary and the IRC log
and everything which I forgot right now
All volunteers are welcome. Take the opportunity to bring your area
forward and become one of the meeting leaders.
I hope that we will have leaders for all three parts of the world within
two weeks.
Regards,
Fabian

The weekly ambassador meetings
by Fabian Affolter
Hi all,
It's a long time ago...exactly during the presentation during the FAD at
Berlin I showed a slide (Page 7) [1]. This slide contains an overview
of some weekly meetings. After a short discussion about why are there
always a lot of European ambassadors at both time (FYI 22:00 UTC is
midnight in western europe). Someone suggested to split the meetings.
An European meeting at a pleasant moment...but now we can't split due to
lack of attendance.
Since LinuxTag there were 18 meetings. 14 were canceled!
Do we still need weekly meetings? Is it an overkill? Is it just a
waste of time? Today for me it was just wasting time. Three people
showed up.
Are the reasons...
- I don't care what the other ambassadors do.
- We have nothing to discuss. I don't know what to tell.
- South America is far away, I'm not interested in stuff from there.
- I have other stuff to do and can't take 30 min off.
- I live in the wrong time zone.
I guess that there is no more any need for exchanging information
between the ambassadors about events and how stuff can be done because
everybody have enough experience to handle it.
On the Join page [2] of the Ambassadors Project...
Step 1. Participate in weekly meetings
Perhaps it would be a good idea to remove that step. No meeting, no
possibility for a participation...FAMSco, this could be a topic for your
next meeting. For your half-yearly meeting ;-)
Just my thoughts...
Regards,
Fabian

Re: [Ambassadors] The weekly ambassador meetings
by Bhanu Patial
Hi all,
+1 for monthly meetings. Another work around is to divide and schedule them with
time zones. For us in India it's +0530 hrs and make it at 0330 hrs.
If meetings are rotated properly then it may help. But i havn't seen meetings being rotated.

Hi Gerold and Fabian,
I hate to say but I agree with you.
I think weekly meeting *is* overkill for our current situation.
Therefore, I would like to propose the meeting frequency to monthly.
Please let me know your thought.

LinuxDay 2007 (Italy)
by francescougolini@aol.it
I'm glad to announce that, for the first year since Fedora Ambassadors
start its activities, Italian Ambassadors will be present at LinuxDay
2007 (on Saturday 27th October).
This event differs from the other ones because it's organized by local
LUGs to promote Linux and, generally, the Open Source philosophy,
moreover, it's an occasion to share opinion, meet other people and
create a "real" community.
Actually ambassadors who confirmed their presence are (in alphabetical
order):
- Francesco Crippa | LinuxDay Lodi : speech on Ruby; presentation and
demo of a fedora installation.
- Francesco Ugolini | LinuxDay Pistoia: presentation of Fedora 7 (a
brief previw of Fedora 8), cd distribution |
http://www.ptlug.org/wiki/LinuxDay2007
- Mario Torre | LinuxDay Avellino | http://www.irlug.it/pagina/linuxday2007
We have, moreover, a fedora contributor who will help us:
- Alessandro Gardich | LinuxDay Padova
For more information you may visit the official website: www.linuxday.it
(you will also find the link to the LUGs' sites).
Best regards
