[Fwd: Fwd: [Fwd: Re: [Ambassadors] Eventbox]]

Hi,
a) does make international shipping sense ? I would estimate that
shipping is more expensive than manufacturing several transparents, ...
Creating one event box in every (large) country would be the way to got.
National shipping is much faster and cheaper.
b) HW ist not international usable (different plugs, voltage of 110/220,
...).
c) Nice HW which is offered with Linux as an option, so the drivers
should be no problem: small, lownoise, ...

<http://www.transtec.de/D/D/products/personal_computer/pc/mini_pc.html?mod...>
d) I would recommend central storage between events. The PCs have to be
reinstalled and cleaned.
e) What about a video projector ?
f) Additional hardware: speakers, webcams, ... ?
g) Only Desktop PCs ?. Laptop-prices are really low these days, so a
cheap laptop doesn't not cost more than a shippable PC, a display, a
keyboard and a mouse. Laptops are much lighter and therefore easier to
ship and use less space on a booth. Also we can show, that Fedora has no
problems with powermanagement, pcmcia, wlan, bluetooth, ...
h) Depending on the target-audience (corporate, enduser, ...) we should
make a list what apps or games could be used. Which non-violent games or
graphic demos have cool 3d-graphics for some eyecatching ? Which
applications are important for corporate users ? For example, they
should be fully translated. Mix-language apps are always leaving a bad
impression.
Perhaps we can find some things, that other PC operating systems can`t
do: better resistance to virus-mails, better support for older hardware,
3D desktop, network based scanning, included and / or free
virtualization via XEN oder Innoteks VirtualBox.
Perhaps it`s a interessting thing to show Linux running on a rather old
PC. "If your machine is to slow to upgrade to the new release of that
other operating system, you could try Fedora.Look here."

Advice for website of Event Box
by Haowei
Event Box is a so excellent idea for our ambassadors work. Just
now, when I wnat to write down something on this page I could not find
anywhere to do.So could this website be added another part that is Comment
of Envent Box? This part is for ambassordors to write down their new idea
which is not very suitable for changing table but useful. What do you think
about this?

Attn: Indian Ambassadors
by Santosh Jain
Hi fellow Indian Ambassadors
I write this mail seeking your help in clearing all the backlogs and
maintaining a healthy FreeMedia India Program. Officially we are 33 in
Number and the approximate request received by the FreeMedia India program
is around 40-50 every month. Why cant we share this? 40-50 will definitely
be a burden to any single individual, but when done in a collective way its
nothing! The current individual ratio is around 1.5 DVD's per ambassador.
Can we collectively do something to make sure we run this FreeMedia Program
successfully.?

A letter of a new China ambassador
by Haowei
Ambassadors:
Firstly,I have myself introduction.I am a new Fedora ambassador for
China. At present,I am a professional editor and forum administrator and BD
for one networking company in Beijing.Recently join this Fedora family with
the help of tchung.
These days,I tried my best to view all information in this
website. However,I can not be happy when I finished this work.I do really
found some problems, especially for China.I found that there were so less
work, information and activities about Fedora in China also with seldom
exchange among our Chinese ambassadors in this list.I have found so many
information and activities about countries in Europe and America. What all of
these remind me:We do little things! Because of my 2 years experience of
BD and professional IT work,I think we can do an excellent job for
ambassadors work in China through our cooperation.I hope people here can
help us,give us more advices and we will do better job.
Here, with my own working experience,I list some of my opinion and plan
for ambassador work in China(Local or all country is OK) in next
months. I plan to do them seriously.Since I just started my ambassador
experience ,I hope everyone here can give some advice. Thanks a lot.
1.Make a union of Fedora in China.Member of it was Fedora fan.
(Popurse:collection of Fedora fan also Fedora users,we can get more
information and advice from them)
2.Link to some website and networking company, make a great activity
about Fedora in China. Now I am thinking plan of this
3.Develop more fans for Frdoraproject or make a date base for
it.Selectgood one recommend to you if they fit for ambassador work
Buy the way,*I do hope that ambassadors in China could attend meeting on
10th,May*.I hope to discuss with all of you and get your advice.
Best regards for all of you,

Issue about Compiz
by Bart De Soete
Hi guys,
Testing some multimedia-options here for future migrating of a small
multimedia company from MS to our beloved Fedora and Linux in general.
I had a question about Compiz, the XGL-desktop...
Packages are installed and I've got effects like wobbling windows, but
I can't find how I can display the cube while screen switching. Are
there any shortcuts?
Regards,
