Confirm your FAD EMEA 2008 attendance
by Sandro "red" Mathys
I ask all attendees of the FAD EMEA 2008 to update the wiki page[1] with
their current status. Particularly the first 2 out of these 3 steps are
very important to the organization of the event and to everyone trying to
arrange cheap traveling. I request that everyone updates his status on the
wiki page ASAP (before Monday would be helpful).
1a) If you can confirm your attendance (now, that the date and the
location are fixed), move your name from Possible[2] to Confirmed[3]
1b) If you can't attend this event, please remove yourself from the list.*
2) If you drive to Basel or an airport by car and have some free seats
available, make sure to add yourself to the car pool[4]. We're grateful
for everyone helping out here as this reduces costs for you and others.
3) Feel free to add more topics you want to discuss to the Business
Agenda[5].
*If you need financial help with your travel expenses, ask Max if he can
help (unfortunately, our budget is very limited). Remember, that Max is
currently on vacation and is returning on Wednesday, 2008-08-13.
For all other questions (or if you need some more time to figure out if
you're able to attend), either respond to the mail on-list or drop me a
line off-list.
Regards,
red

North American Fedora Ambassador Day
by Jeffrey Tadlock
As many North American ambassadors have probably noticed, there has
been a lot of new activity in the region. Ambassador meetings are
happening again, planning for the North American region is happening
and a lot of this is being driven forward by the North American
regional leaders - David Nalley, Clint Savage and John Rose.
As part of this, we would like to suggest a North American Fedora
Ambassadors Day to coincide with the Ohio Linux Fest [1] on the
weekend of October 10th and 11th in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio Linux Fest
seems to attract several Fedora folks and is centrally located to help
minimize travel time and costs for people to attend on their own.
A Fedora Ambassadors Day offers a great way for high bandwidth,
face-to-face discussion to really help move things forward and plan
the upcoming year. The European ambassadors have been holding FADs
and been very successful in their efforts.
We will be adding a FAD page soon to help track who can attend, but we
wanted to get the idea out there so people can be thinking about it
and make suggestions as needed.
Thanks!
Jeffrey

List INFO!
by Joerg Simon
Hello List,
Right know it looks like there may be a bug with our address sync script for
the Ambassador List. Several Addresses @fedoraproject.org are unsubscribed
because of "Excessive or fatal bounces" and the @fedoraproject.org Addresses
did not get all the Emails for the last 24h hours from that List.
The Fedora Admin Team is informed and works on it.
Keep looking for your subscribtion and read missing mails at

New Ambassador
by Ricardo Ichizo
Hi Ambassadors,
I subscribe me as a new Ambassador to Brazil, specifically to region
of Campinas, SP [1].
I've worked around 2 years with Fedora and RedHat Enterprise Linux
distributions. I'd like to join the Ambassadors community and to be an
Ambassador, because there is not any Ambassador for my city and there
are many Universities and a lot of people wishing to know more about
open source projects.
Also, I think I can promote Fedora project in conferences that I attend
(PGCon Brazil [2], PyCon Brazil [3] and eventual presentations at
Universities).

CD/DVD printer/duplicator - Donations!
by Rodrigo Padula de Oliveira

Hello Guys!
Thinking to improve and expand the distribution of media and
dissemination of Fedora in Latin America, the Brazilian Fedora Project
is collecting donations to buy a CD / DVD publisher(US$3.750,00=R$6.000).
This idea will decrease the cost and increase the velocity of the media
production in LATAM.
If you want to contribute, we provide a link to the PayPall on the
web-page for international donations:

Thanks guys !!

NA Ambassadors Meeting 2008-08-06 Meeting Summary
by inode0
Clint Savage led the meeting.
* News from FAmSCo - Jeffrey Tadlock, Q3 budget report and guidelines
for documenting activities discussed.
* Fedora outreach in the academic community - Jack Aboutboul, overview
of plans for how Fedora can increase its presence and impact at high
school and college campuses. Lively discussion with interrupted flow
due to network issues. Jack will submit a more detailed report to this
list soon to fill in some gaps. Jack has a bold vision of how to
proceed and we'll need to fully understand that vision in order to
most effectively mesh our efforts into it. More discussion will occur
on list about this subject.
* NA Goal review and reporting as it relates to events and activities
- David Nalley, discussion of ways to organize goals and better track
progress including promotion of "events" both large and small as well
as recruitment of ambassadors and other contributors to the project.
Grappling with the notion of an active ambassador and whether such a
notion is useful. The role of an ambassador is very broad and Fedora
can be promoted in so many ways this notion turns out to be difficult
to pin down. But it is very important to have ways to track what
ambassadors do at least at a high level so progress can be evaluated
and funding can be directed to appropriate need areas.
* Events in NA - Karsten Wade reported about Lindependence, some brief
discussion of other events, and planning for UTOSC. Some final
discussion about the future of event planning being directed through
the NA regional + FAMSCo process closed the meeting.
