Unagendized topic for NA meeting
by Larry Cafiero
Hey, all (at least those in NA) --
I didn't agendize this because I will be late for the meeting, but during
the open floor discussion I'd like to discuss a couple of topics relating to
the the Campus Ambassador program.
Thanks in advance, and hope to make it on-channel before the half-hour.

NA meeting tonight
by Darcy Hodgson
Hello Everyone in the NA,
I apologize for missing the meeting last night. I had a action item to get
pricing for replenishing the t-shirt stock.
I have quotes from both RC Silk, and Screen Printed Products. The prices
are about the same from both companies for a white t-shirt if purchasing
over 2000
RCSILK - Small - XL - $2.37 each
- XXL - XXXXL - $3.84 each
Screen Printed Products - All sizes - $2.65 each
Both of these quotes include the 3 colour Fedora logo on the front.

FOSDEM status/planning meeting on IRC
by Max Spevack
Hi all,
As you all know, Frederic has been doing an INCREDIBLE job of getting
FOSDEM organized for 2010.
I think it would be very useful if we all get together on IRC to make
sure that the questions of different attendees or potential attendees
are being answered.
I'd like to propose that we use a big chunk of this week's EMEA
Ambassadors meeting to discuss FOSDEM. Frederic, can you come to this
week's EMEA Ambassadors meeting, so that you and I can lead a
discussion?
If Frederic can make it, then I'd encourage anyone who is interested in
FOSDEM to also attend this week's EMEA Ambassadors meeting.

mspevack's updates for NA and EMEA meetings
by Max Spevack
Hey Ambassadors,
I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend the NA ambassadors meeting
tonight, so here's my general update on various TODOs that are/were
mine.
* (WHOLE WORLD) I consolidated the various pages where we had swag
vendors listed into one page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Swag_vendors
* (EMEA) CDs will be shipped out shortly -- we're getting together the
final list of addresses, and from there Ambassadors will be able to
further distribute.
* (WHOLE WORLD) Due to requests to run another Ambassadors training
classroom, I've scheduled one for January 7th.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Classroom#Upcoming_Classes
* (WHOLE WORLD) Case badge order will be placed before Christmas
vacation. We know that basically the whole world is interested. I'll
dig through my records to get the name of the company, make sure it is
on the Swag vendors page, and then call them. Hopefully they remember
us and still have the design, so that they can just print a new batch
without us having to do any submission of designs again.
* (NA) Media status pending making contact with the production company.
Sent them mail, need to followup with a phone call. Goal is to have CDs
in hands of folks before Christmas.
* (EMEA) Hoping to use tomorrow's EMEA ambassadors meeting to discuss
FOSDEM in detail.

Problem Web Site Peru
by Henry Anchante
Greetings fedorianos in Perù fedora have more than 3 months with the
problem of the website, we have proposed solutions latam ambassadors
have written and without any viable solution, we have also talked with
the staff of Telefonica del Peru and the filter by them follows.
Perù Fedora calls on all representatives of Fedora, support us to
intervene in the matter, with a new host and space to handle the
responsibility of Fedora in Peru.
What we want is we put our resources for Fedora host and domain and
thus continue to recruit more users in Peru and have support and
fluids with Fedora, a topic that we have lost all this time.
pending a viable response to the progress of Fedora I say goodbye

Fedora Board, FESCo & FAmSCo Elections - Voting Information
by Nigel Jones
Hi Everyone,
The elections for the Fedora Board, Fedora Engineering Steering
Committee (FESCo) and the Fedora Ambassadors Steering Committee have been
created and are due to start at 0000 UTC on 5th December 2009 and are
scheduled to run until 2359 UTC on 15th December 2009.
All groups have chosen to use the Range Voting method
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range_voting).
Ballots may be cast on the Fedora Elections System at
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/voting. If this is the first time you've
used the voting system, please refer to the Fedora Elections Guide,
currently located at http://nigelj.fedorapeople.org/feg/.
**** Please Note ****
There will be a Fedora Infrastructure outage during the voting period that
may effect the voting application, as a result we have brought the voting
start date forward to the 5th December instead of the 8th December.
As announced by Paul Frields in the event of extended outage, we will as
appropriate extend the voting period.
We have also implemented a new feature in our voting software, so users
can verify their votes. Vote verification can be done at:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/voting/verify
You will be prompted for your Fedora Account System username and password
and a list of elections where votes have been recorded will be listed.

***
I'd also like to point out the following from Paul Frields' announcement
for the June 2008 Board Election:
"I'd like everyone voting to remember that this isn't a popularity
contest, or a reward system. Think about how you'd like to Board to look
when you vote, the same way you think about how you'd like any
government body to look when you cast votes for their elections. We have
a lot of worthy candidates on this list, and you should pick the ones
that you feel will best represent you in advancing the Fedora Project.
This is one of numerous ways in which our community makes decisions
about the leadership of Fedora. Your vote counts, and I hope you take
advantage of it."
***
This advice is still valid, not just for the Fedora Board election but
for all three elections.
Thanks also go to John Rose and other volunteers who have helped with
organising and running Town Hall meetings for these elections.
Regards,
Nigel Jones

[Event report] Fedora 12 release Party in Paris (aka Rencontres Fedora 12)
by Mathieu Bridon
Hi fellow ambassadors,
This week-end, we had our Fedora 12 release party in Paris (Fedora 12
on the 12/12 :) at the Cité des Sciences, a french establishment for
promoting everything about science and technical stuff, and making it
accessible to everyone.
The event ran over 2 days, with several conferences and workshops.
Here is the agenda :
== Saturday ==
=== Conferences ===
14:00 - The Fedora Project, by Thomas Canniot (Fedora ambassador,
member of FAmSCo and treasurer of the Fedora-Fr NPO)
15:00 - Cobbler and Puppet, by William Hoffmann (Red Hat engineer and trainer)
16:00 - Sugar, by Sean Daly (marketing coordinator of the Sugar Labs)
17:00 - The Mozilla community and the web, by Grégoire Coustenoble
(Mozilla contributor)
=== Workshops ===
14:30 - Linux administration, by Michael Scherer (Mandriva contributor) and me
15:30 - Discover Fedora, by Tom Dubin (Fedora ambassador) and
Alexandre Frandemiche (Fedora-Fr contributor, leader of the french
version of Fedora package of the day)
16:30 - A bit of both the first workshops, depending on visitors questions
== Sunday ==
=== Conferences ===
14:00 - OpenMoko, by Michael Scherer (Mandriva contributor)
15:00 - Translating Fedora, by Thomas Canniot (Fedora ambassador,
member of FAmSCo and treasurer of the Fedora-Fr NPO) and Pablo
Martin-Gomez (Fedora ambassadors, leader of the fr Fedora translation
team)
=> this session lasted longer than planned because attendees had a
lot of question, so Michale Scherer decided to let it run and cancel
his next conference
16:00 - Fight Internet censorship with Tor, by Michael Scherer
(Mandriva contributor)
=> Michael decided to cancel his talk as the public was interacting
very well with Thomas about the previous session
=== Workshops ===
14:30 - Discover Fedora, by Tom Dubin (Fedora ambassador) and
Alexandre Frandemiche (Fedora-Fr contributor, leader of the french
version of Fedora package of the day)
15:30 - Linux administration, by me
Also, members of the JeuxLinux.fr team (a french LUG dedicated to
video games on Linux) was present for both days, and were doing some
kind of a permanent "come and play with us" session.
All the conferences were filmed, and we hope to be able to distribute
the videos (in french unfortunately for most of you on this list)
shortly and obviously under a free content license.
----------
All in all, the event ran pretty well (even if very tiring :). We had
around 100 visitors (I honestly didn't count, but that should be an
accurate estimation), and we helped several people install Fedora or
solve the problems they were having.
We distributed lots of the Fedora 12 CDs we had made, sold t-shirts
and live USBs (Fedora branded USB sticks). We also printed a
translated version of the one page release notes that visitors seemed
to appreciate pretty much.
Cédric, a member of the Fedora-Fr community that we had never heard of
before stepped up to join us and be our reporter to cover the event as
a film report with hand-held camera. He interviewed people, moved
around the event and filmed backstage. We hope to have the finished
movie pretty soon. This was a very nice surprise to us, and we hope he
will continue to participate in Fedora (at least we want to encourage
him :).
Of course, the event wouldn't have been such a success without the
participation of all the attendees that I didn't already mention
above:
- Armel Kermorvant (Fedora ambassador and president of the Fedora-Fr NPO)
- Pierre-Yves Chibon (Fedora ambassador and packager, Fedora-Fr.org
administrator and vice-president of the Fedora-Fr NPO)
- Carlos Vassalo (Fedora ambassador, vice-treasurer of the Fedora-Fr
NPO and human front-end to the LiveUSB-Creator tool :)
- Nicolas Chauvet (Fedora ambassador, rock-star packager and board
member of the Fedora-Fr NPO)
- Maxime Carron (Fedora ambassador and secretary of the Fedora-Fr NPO)
- Xavier Lamien (member of the Fedora Packaging Committee and the
Fedora Infrastructure team)
- Mohamed El Morabity (Fedora ambassador and Fedora-Fr.org ubiquitous
user support)
- Emmanuel Seyman, Paul Marques-Mota and Sabine Herbin (board members
of the Parisian LUG)
- Olivier Fraysse (board member of the Ubuntu-Fr NPO) who really
helped us rounding the edges related to the logistics with the Cité
des Sciences
- and all the others who I inevitably forgot as my memory left me
along with my mental sanity somewhere around 4:00 am on Sunday :)
We're already eagerly looking forward to organizing the next one.
Best regards,
----------
