Fedora marketing needs you!
by Steven Moix
Hello dear Fedora Ambassadors,
During the last couple of weeks, the Fedora Marketing [1] group has done
some serious internal reorganization, most of which you probably don't
care about very much right now ;)
One important thing to notice is the apparition of something called the
"News Distribution Network" [2]. This is where we need you, the
Ambassadors!
The News Distribution Network is a joint effort between the marketing
group and the ambassador group to effectively push Fedora news to the
media. As you can see on [2], we are currently searching 2-3 people for
each of the following languages:
* English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi and Italian
Your role will be to help us spread news. If you read the whole page
[2], it should be pretty clear what we expect from you :)
If you are interested, feel free to contact me so we can discuss your
candidature during the next IRC marketing meeting next Tuesday.

Re: [Ambassadors] Fedora availability initiative
by Gaurav Prabhu
How will the cyber cafe owners earn? A blank CD costs Rs.12 while a DVD costs Rs.15. It would be wise to provide medias at the same rate or else nobody would buy at a higher price.

Thanks, yes i do admit that this is having a slow rate of growth. But it will be steady. Our basic objective is to make Fedora available for all. I think it is beneficial for cybercafe owners too. They will be earning by burning CDs/DVDs and they too will be selling blank CDs/DVDs, event in that there is profit for them.
I think of convinced properly we can make these people to distribute Fedora media.
Moreover my main concern is that is burning and selling CDs/DVDs compleatly legal accross countries ?

Re: [Ambassadors] Please REPLY to this mail (or you will be *removed* from the Ambassadors Country list.)
by "G"
Hi
My activities so far as
FEDORA AMBASSADOR
1.I was successful in converting projects running Suse/Debian to fedora at
my workplace but unfortunately these systems IP dont get updated in Smolt as
everything is behind proxy and receiving securiy updates and using latest
versions of gnome or kde doesnt seem to be a big necssisty Hence most of
them run F9 and some of the projects use F8 and even F6 (due to customer
requirements) .
2. Have been part of the Fedora Free Media Program
3. i have done quite a lot of work in updating the wiki pages undert the
Ambassador Section.
4. I have been in talks with my company to conduct some Workshops as install
fests does not interest lot of them. Workshops would be more focused on how
to contribute to an Open Source Project and the point of focus would be
fedora.
5. I have been satisfying the DVD requests that i get from many people.
6. I interact with Susmit on quite a regular basis and help the community to
share some of the work on wiki pages under ambassador section.
7. I have participated in ambassador meetings and have given my opinions and
suggestions too. I am able to push fedora in my organization and use it in
the workplace for telecom projects.
DEVELOPER/CONTRIBUTOR
1. I have started to contribute to Packagekit
2. I write articles/HowTos to fedoraunity.org
3. I did some gardening work in the Wiki though i am not able to do it
currently.
4. I would like to act as a mentor in fedora but am not sure the contact
person for this.
WHAT I LOOK FORWARD TO ?
Currently i am not in need of anything apart from the support from the
community which i get when i need it :). I would like to continue my
efforts.
Cheers,
Balaji

nice idea... i will try this with the cyber cafe owners nearby my region
but the cafe owner will get bored if there is no frequent customers for him.
The same way i had an idea long before of trying to setup an online linux
shop... but i discarded because i need to have all the linux products and
also keep the shop updated... being a single person i wont be able to do it
i guess...
