As I get people asking me about Fedora, I find I don't know much on the
subject (yeah I know ambassador who doesn't know his distro), so I was
wondering if anyone knows any books out there that could help me learn more
about Fedora and Linux in general...(please don't say Linux for dummies...)
Thanks,
Emilio
I have successfully installed fedora on some of my collegues laptops. However, the wireless devices on those laptops could not work. In fact I could not configure wireless on the machines most hp, acer and dell. Is it that fedora does not have wireless drivers for these laptops. if it has, then someone should help me out with the configuration of wireless network connections.
I was at Mukah, Sarawak on the last 22nd and 23rd June 2009 for a FOSS
Seminar organized by a Polytechnic college there. The polytechnic
invited speakers from OSCC-MAMPU and Eric (an OSCC-MAMPU staff, an
OpenSuSE Ambassador, and also a contributor in Fedora Malaysia
activities) invited me to tag along with him as a speaker. The event
attendees were primarily lecturers and staff from Mukah Polytechnic
itself, Kuching Polytechnic, and several nearby colleges.
It was a 2 days event where the first day was mainly filled with talks
related several FOSS topics: "What is FOSS", "Trends in FOSS world",
"GNU/Linux", "Security in FOSS", "Interoperability – Making FOSS and
Windows play nice", and "FOSS development tools". The second day was
an install workshop of Fedora and OpenSuSE and introduction of several
GNOME features to the attendees. Me and Eric take turns on the talks
and workshop.

Braden, welcome to the Fedora Project! It was great to see that you're
also from Kitchener, where I am from too! I've lived in the US for
about 15 years now, but get back there a couple times a year.
You might also be interested in joining the Fedora Ambassadors team
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors) Its good to see more
folks from Canada joining. We're trying to grow the presence in Canada,
so there is lots of opportunity if you want to get more involved.
Best regards,
