F12 talking points are out!

The F12 talking points have been released, and are ready for use (and
improvement!) Many thanks to Steven Moix, Paul Frields, and Jon Roberts
for their hard work.
Talking points (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Talking_points) are key
features of the new release that we want to point out. There are
different types of talking points for different types of people: users,
developers, sysadmins, and more. They are meant to answer the question
"so what cool stuff is in the latest release of Fedora?"
Reading the talking points should get someone who's *not* necessarily
already a member of the Fedora community excited. (This is something
that I think the talking points could still use some help with; which
ones are unclear? Which ones don't get you as excited yet?) Please take
a look at the talking points and think about how you'd like to use them
for F12 outreach - and if you can think of a better way of phrasing
something, or think something should be improved, please let us know (or
use the wiki and just make the change yourself).
Ambassadors in particular: how can we turn these talking points into
marketing materials that will help you spread the word?

Dear All,
Hope you are doing fine.
I'm one of the Fedora Ambassador from Bangladesh and is involved with a
volunteer group named Ankur[0]; my colleague (Jamil Ahmed) is the l10n
maintainer[1] for Bengali(bn_BD). My organization is involved with l10n
project and Spreading FOSS in Bangladesh for last several years.
You will be glad to know that we are attending annual Software Exhibition
2010 [2] arranged by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information
Services (BASIS) [3]. It will be held between February 10-14, 2010. More
than 200 exhibitors and over 300,000 visitors and delegates are expected to
participate and attend this 5 day long exposition.
We will demonstrate and distribute Bengali localized Linux Distributions and
FOSS - which includes Fedora12. We are developing Bangla user manuals with
localized screenshots - which will be distributed in this event too. We are
planning to distribute a large number of DVD, Stickers, Flyer throughout the
5 day exhibition - as far as we can afford.
It will be a great help if we have your support. I've updated my event in
FY10 Q4 [4]. Please let us know the possibility.

I spoke with the coordinators just yesterday. They have two ticket
prices and the higher price ticket comes with a goodie bag. They have
requested that we contribute a flier for the bag if we can and
possibly some stickers. They are expecting the ticket price with
schwag to be affordable, probably around $45 for the whole thing.

will do. Matt Domsch has been really helpful to me and has offered a
lot of personal support for organizing this. I suggest the same
location where the Lone Star Ruby Conference has been held in the
past, the Norris Conference Center. They have reasonable rates and a
very helpful staff and catering.

Thanks cwtucker. I believe that our responsiblities will lie in booth
setup and participation on the floor.
The conference really needs paper submissions. 45 and 25 minute
presentations are ideal. If anyone would like to present, that would

I see a lot of big interactive projects hosted on Red Hat and CentOS.
I have not seen any on Fedora. Linux is gaining ground in ontology
hosting. I think that Fedora is important to them. Is anyone doing
something like an OWASP spin or using Fedora-Commons on Fedora? It
would be great to see something semantic or security related in our
booth.

The BarCamp is great here. The problem is that it usually forms and
happens within a 2 to 3 week period and it is over in one weekend.
Very little planning time from event announcement to start date
historically. We need to be ready before they announce - if they do.

Travel to Austin around this time must be planned in advance - way in
advance. I have had trouble flying to even Birmingham AL during SXSW.
AMTrack is an easy ride down from Dallas, though. It has wireless
internet all the way.

Budget Support for Fedora Indonesia

Dear Fedora Ambassadors
A few days ago we (Fedora Indonesia) had guests from Germany. Mr.
Mario Behling of LXDE fundation. He called on us to attend and
represent Fedora Indonesia in the event Gnome Asia Summit to be held
in Vietnam in November 2010. Honestly we do not have the funds to
transport and accommodation costs, we are pure free support community
and do not get support funds from any others party. My question, could
we get funding for transport and accommodation from Fedora, to attend
the Gnome Asia Summit in Vietnam? honest we really wanted to attend
the event. as Fedora Indoneisa.

We have a wiki page for other events calendars:

I added http://fossevents.org/ to that page. But the page could use
some Ambassador's attention, and this would be a good task for a newer
Ambassador who's looking for a way to help.
It would take maybe a half-hour or so for someone to go through all
the links on that page and do some upkeep:
* See if links work, fix or remove as necessary
* If some of these sites are read-only calendars, break the page up to
separate out and highlight sites where Ambassadors can add event
information for Fedora events
