Event report : Athens Digital Week 2010
by Konstantinos Antonakoglou
Hello everyone,
I should have sent this report a month earlier but unfortunately I
couldn't.
To the point!
Athens Digital Week 2010 was a successful event for Fedora once more! In
general it is a major event as it has many sections (from music to
robotics) and as a consequence a *lot* of attendance. We were of course
at the Open Source section.
We had booth presence that was supported from a lot of members of the
Greek Fedora community. We also made 3 talks. I did one for Fedora 14,
Anastasis Stasinopoulos made one for Fedora Security Lab and Christos
Bacharakis presented "Fedora on Education". I must say there was
interest for Fedora Electronic Lab too. In general a successful
presence!
Furthermore, one of the keynote talks was made by Jon "maddog" Hall, who
also thanked Pierros Papadeas (who invited him) and the Greek Fedora
team.
For more info check the post on my blog [1]

Hey, North American ambassadors (and any other interested parties):
The second monthly North American meeting of Fedora Ambassadors will be held
in #fedora-meeting at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time / 6 p.m. Pacific Time

If there's something you want to talk about, agendize it fairly soon at

I completely and humbly apologize for the late notice -- I kept thinking
today is Monday 11/15 and was going to send a notice later. I welcome any
ridicule that I deserve because of this error.

Laredo Linux Users Group Fedora 14 Release Party!!
by xm4nfedoralinux .
Here is a recap of the Laredo Linux Users Group's Fedora 14 Release Party!!
OK, The Fedora Release Party went good this time!!!
We had a number of attendees and onlookers too and all were trying Fedora
Linux on their laptops.
The event was all about the release of Fedora 14 and the features at a
glance. I gave a mini-talk about the way how community code and ideas get
integrated into features of which gets further integrated into foundations
and apps for Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
We also discussed some differences between Redhat-based distros and
Debian-based distros. Towards the latter half of the event, we watched all
videos related to Linux and its application to the real world in all aspects
of life.
At the end there was a swag give-away and everyone in the event got a piece
of swag to take home and took home some live CD's and install DVD's too.
All in all, it was a good event and good times!!

FAmSCo Townhall time and call for volunteers.
by susmit shannigrahi
Hi All,
We will have two FAmSCo townhall meetings to accommodate all candidates.
As per the standard practice:
* Everyone should join #fedora-townhall on FreeNode
(irc.freenode.net). Only candidates and a moderator may speak in this
channel.
* Non-candidates should also join #fedora-townhall-public on FreeNode
(irc.freenode.net). Direct your questions for the candidates to the
moderator here.
The first one is on 16th Nov, 1600 UTC.
The second one is 19th Nov, 1000 UTC,
We also need someone to volunteer as a moderator of the second townhall.
Thanks.

User lists, was Re: Fedora Ambassadors Welcome
by Gerard Braad
Hi all,
As kaio mentioned there is a new list for AU users. It is good
practice for new ambassadors to join these lists and should certainly
be pointed out by the mentors.
The APAC region gained a lot more attention recently, which is a good
thing, but I am sure more regions might want to consider regional
lists. If so, please discuss it. We have to be consistent with naming
these as the one for China is a combined list (user and developer).
For a small community ok, but not handy in the longrun.
Kaio, thanks for co-ordinating/assisting this new region ;-)
