Fedora Project Contributor Agreement Draft Revision Posted (Replacement for Fedora Individual Contributor License Agreement)
by Tom Callaway
Hi Fedora!
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the Fedora Project
Contributor Agreement (FPCA). We listened to your concerns, and have
amended the draft slightly.
Here are the key changes that we've made:
1) We removed undefined references to "free".
2) We replaced the term "electronic" with "digital".
3) Most importantly, we made several changes to explicitly address the
problem of reuse of default-licensed CC-BY-SA content within
GPL-covered works. (Basically, we added a GPL exception.)
The full text of the revised FPCA, along with a FAQ, can be found here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Legal:Revised_Fedora_CLA_Draft
Fedora Legal wishes to give the Fedora community a window of time for
discussion and review of the revised FPCA. Due to the fact that the
changes are relatively minor, and the original draft has been open for
comments for some time now, this second window is open until June 4,
2010 (2010-06-04). After that point, either another revised FPCA will be
released for review, or we will begin the process of phasing in the FPCA
and phasing out the Fedora ICLA.
Thanks in advance,
Tom "spot" Callaway, Fedora Legal

Dude, where are my torrents ?
by H. Guémar
Hi,
that's the question everyone is asking me since Fedora 13 public release.
All torrents links were removed from the get-fedora front pages, so
either our average users are not smart enough, or torrents links are
not visible enough.
Does adding a *small link* to torrent downloads under buttons would
ruin the get-fedora front page ergonomy ?
Bittorrent saves us bandwith, it spares average user checksumming
downloads, it can resume downloads (remember that average users may
download iso through their browser), etc ...
I have been asking guys on #fedora-websites but they didn't even
bother to answer.
Get-fedora has been great easing our user experience to get media,
removing torrents links was not a smart move.
Best regards,
H.

People asked me alot. They are so interested with Fedora :)
Generally, I introduced them about some new features of Fedora 13, how they can start using Fedora and how they can join into Fedora community and have contributions.
Someone currently using Fedora were introduced how to upgrade to F13 smoothly, etc.
I hope, after this event, all Fedora users in Hanoi (and Vietnam) can join together to make the local Fedora User Group here (may or may not under HanoiLUG).
Kind regards,
Tuan

Congratulations Sandro
by inode0
Great news today. Sandro has been named the 2010 RHCE of the Year for Europe!
You can read his thoughts about this on his blog at
http://sandro-mathys.ch/2010/05/25/rhce-of-the-year-2010-for-europe
I met Sandro in person at the 2009 Red Hat Summit and now cannot wait
until the 2010 Red Hat Summit kicks off where I can congratulate him
in person and cheer as loudly as I can when he receives the award.
Your humility and eagerness to share this award with your fellow
Fedora contributors makes me extremely proud to be a member of the
community you work so hard to make better. I really can't wait to
shake your hand in Boston.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Don't you remember there is an EMEA Ambassador meeting
next Wednesday (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa)
on #fedora-meeting ?
Day : Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
Time : 20:00 UTC (check
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=26&month=05&year...
to know your own time depending on your countries)
Channel : #fedora-meeting
Meeting agenda (add your topic before the meeting please) :
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Meeting:EMEA_Ambassadors_2010-5-26
Unfortunately I would not be able to chair this meeting cause I will
be in Brussels trying to find Martin and Nicu for setting up our
presence in Libre Graphics Meeting 2010. Fedora will be there and we
shall rock this event the fedora-way :)
Joerg or Christos will head this event and I could probably drop by to
say hi by the end of the meeting!
Update your agendas, and don't forget to join the meeting!
Kind regards,
Pierros

Activities in Mexico
by Ivan Pacheco Martinez
Hello Mexican friends!
Tomorrow we'll have between us the new Fedora 13 Goddard. There is not
an official launch event in our country. I think it's very important
that we seize the opportunity we have to organize some activities that
allow us to spread our system.
Do any of you have thought about that? What specific plans could be
carried out? Or is that, for now, is impossible?
Greetings from Mexico City.

[EMEA Media] A question about past F12 budget
by Sascha Thomas Spreitzer
Hello Max,
The EMEA ambassadors and especially I was wondering about the figures
of the F12 media.
Joerg Simon pointed out that there have been arround 2000 pcs of F12 media.
And I read in the past wiki pages the F12 EMEA media used a budget of
arround 4,500.00 USD?
After looking at the F13 quotes we received from the media company, we
can order arround 6,000 to 8,000 pcs by 4,500.00 USD.
So this a small open question, for me.
Was the figure of 4,500.00 USD of F12 in EMEA correct? ( Or did I look
at the wrong figures? )
freedom regards,
Sascha
