Update the inventory NOW!
by Christoph Wickert
Dear Ambassadors,
some of you have received F15 media. According to Jörg only a few 32 bit
Install media are left. However the inventory at
https://fedorahosted.org/emea-swag-tracking/wiki/Inventory
still only lists a single ambassador that has media. We have been
shipping nearly 5000 media but we have no idea where they are? Come on!
It is crucial to have this info in the wiki because if you got media for
further distribution people need to know who to contact. If you received
the media for an event, please don't forget to blog about it. If you
have media left after the event, add it to the inventory too, please.
We have invested a lot of money into media and we really need to know
how they were spend or where they are.
TIA,
Christoph

FUDCon Milan 2011, info ?
by Pierre-Yves Chibon
Hi,
I am planning to come to the FUDCon in Milan and after booking my plan
tickets I would like to book my hotel.
There are three hotels listed on the wiki page [1], but I have two
remarks:
- The following not has been added on July 12th [2]:
"""
The hotels listed below are the suggested hotels, but we have not yet
arranged for any special Fedora group rates at these hotels. We hope to
have group rates for at least one of these hotels in the next week or
two.
"""
Is there any news on this ?
- When I checked the price for the first hotel in the list, I end up
with ~80€/night, which is pretty much the double of the price indicated
on the wiki so, either the wiki consider a double room occupied by 2
person who split the price (and therefore indicated half of the price
without mentioning it), or I have missed something.
Could anyone en-light me ?
Best regards,
Pierre

[Event report] Introduction to Python: Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, India
by Shakthi Kannan
Greetings!
I had conducted a one-day hands-on "Introduction to Python"
programming workshop at Maharashtra Institute of Technology, College
of Engineering [1], Kothrud, Pune, India on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
The participants were engineering students who had some programming
experience but were new to Python. I wanted to do a hands-on session
so I could help them along the way. I decided to use the presentation
"Python: Introduction for Programmers" by Bruce Beckles and Bob
Dowling from the University Computing Service, University of Cambridge
[2]. I had requested permission to re-use the slides giving credit to
the authors, for which they agreed.
Two software labs (I and II) were made available at the venue. Remote
desktop was setup so the slides were visible on both the lab
projectors. A speaker system was arranged so people could hear me from
either lab. Gedit was used to write simple programs.
Thanks to Prof. Reena D. Pagare (MIT, College of Engineering) for
working with me during the last few weeks in organizing this workshop.
Photos taken at the venue and during the workshop are available at my
/gallery [3].

FUDCon EMEA travel subsidies are open
by Christoph Wickert
Hi there
if you are planing to attend FUDCon Milan 2011 and need travel
subsidies, the ticket system is now open. If you need sponsoring, please
1. register at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Milan_2011#Pre-registration
2. put an X in the $$$ column
3. make a funding request in the the FUDCon ticket tracker at
https://fedorahosted.org/fudcon-planning/wiki/FundingRequest
Funding requests without a ticket will not be considered. We have a
limited budget and will work hard to fund as many people as possible.
We'll use these answers to help figure out budgeting for the event. We
are making arrangements for attendees from other geographic regions to
encourage specific initiatives such as future FUDCon events, but
preference may otherwise be given to people in EMEA.
The next subsidy meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 15:00
UTC in #fudcon-planning. Please show up in case the event organizers
have questions about your request.
Regards,
Christoph
