APAC Web FAD proposal -> Package maintainer's wishlist clean up

Hi folks, I propose a simple web-FAD to clean up the package maintainer's wishlist[1]. It shouldn't really take up more than an hour if we have a few people working on this. Q. What is the wishlist? A. It's a list of packages that fedora users would like to see in the fedora repositories. Unfortunately, the list is not well maintained and thus, gives inaccurate information to package maintainers. Q. Benefits of the clean up? A. Package maintainers will benefit from a well maintained wish-list. It's a good place to direct prospective package maintainers too, when they're looking for packages to get started with. Q. How much time will it take? A. Maybe an hour and a half, two at the most. Q. What do I need to carry? A. A connection to the interweb, a web browser, IRC client. Optional but recommended: Pizza, bacon, coffee, beer, $food, $music. Q. Why APAC specific? A. Folks from one region are more likely to be available at a certain time. Any one interested is more than welcome to join in, as always. :) Q. What do I need to know? A. Reading/writing/wiki editing. Use of package manager tools, bugzilla, packagedb. Should have FAS account to be able to edit wiki. Q. What do I need to do? A. Simple workflow: - Pick up a package listed in the wishlist - Check if it is already packaged, or if a review ticket has already been filed on bugzilla - Modify wiki page accordingly. Q. What can I learn during this FAD? A. Using yum/$package_manager; using bugzilla; package maintainers process; meet people, get to know your community folks, above all, *have fun*. Q. Future plans? A. See if anyone would like to take over the responsibility of maintaining the wish list. We could even repeat the FAD every month or two. I haven't thought of a time yet. APAC folks, are you up for it? International CES 2013 even - Las Vegas, NV

Hi, Does Fedora or Red Hat have any plans to have some kind of exhibit for CES 2013? http://www.cesweb.org/ I missed the free registration, but I'll be attending anyway. I think it would be good to have an exhibit there. Thanks, Dan

Modifications to the fudcon kl page. Is it one of us or an advertisement campaign?

Hi folks, Someone's made an edit to the fudcon kl wiki page which looks quite like an advertisement campaign: quietly adding links to our wiki pages. (the even has been over long back, makes no sense for someone to add hotel info to it now). Did one of us make this, is it a genuine edit? Or is this spamming and needs to be reverted? If it's spamming, can someone please contact the spammer and request them to not repeat this behaviour? Hi, I created a page for FOSDEM 2013 [1], which is the most important FOSS event at least in EMEA, because I think it's time to start planning and organizing. Christoph registered our booth last week. Please add your name if you're planning to come and make a note if you're willing to staff the booth. I put myself in the position of the event owner, but it was just to kick off the organization. I have no problem to hand over the position to someone else (e.g. Biertie who owned it last year). Hello, The JM2L for « Journée Méditerranéennes du Logiciel Libre » is a event during 2 days, the 24th and 25th November this year. The location was in Sophia-Antipolis, in South of France. For this event, I had a stand with T-shirt, CDs and I accompanied the install-party for one installation. It was a good occasion to speak with the local community, contact different users, etc. Fedora was very appreciated in this area, because a good search center (INRIA) had Fedora only in production and the population during this event is very academic (teacher or student). They were aware for the delay Fedora 18, but they were comprehensive about the reasons of this delay. The ambiance is very cool and I have good discussion about Fedora with different users.
