Budget Planning and Fund Request Guidelines in EMEA
by Jiri Eischmann
Hi,
because we approved the last ticket of the "budget reform" at FAmSCo
yesterday, I decided to create drafts of two wiki pages that will
reflect the changes.
Fund Request/Reimbursement Guidelines for EMEA:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/EMEA/Reimbursement
It's based on Buddhike Kurera's draft for APAC with minor changes for
EMEA. Please comment it on the Discussion page.
Main changes:
- each region will be given a budget and we'll be responsible for its
spending up to certain limits.
- all expenses up to $1999 will be approved within the region, there is
also a peer review up to $499. Those limits can be set lower if we
decide so.
- there is a new role - treasurer (or budget wrangler if you will) who
handles the regional budget, maintains and submits records, ensures the
allocated budget is properly used, and makes sure that approved and
spent requests are quickly reimbursed. I've been appointed by FAmSCo as
a treasurer for EMEA for now.
Budget Planning:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/EMEA/Budget
Because EMEA will have to handle its own budget, we need to start budget
planning, so that we can tell Robyn Bergeron and OSAS how much money we
are going to spend. This quarter is transitional, it's already started,
so it's a bit too late to do planning, but we have to get the drill. So
I'd like everyone to add expenses he/she expects to have in this quarter
(and let's start with the next one too, shall we?), no matter if they
have already been approved or not. Remember: we won't have much money
for unexpected expenses in the budget, so if you don't participate in
the planning we'll have a smaller chance to get your expenses approved!
I also expect your comments on the form of budget planning (write them
on the Discussion page).
We will certainly discuss the topic at the next regional meeting.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Jiri

Fedora Video Contest Starts
by Nitesh Narayan
Hi,
Want to win a cool Fedora Tshirt and other swags , participate in Fedora Video Contest . The contest is starting today (5th September 2012) and will remain open for 1 month (5th October 2012).
The contest is really simple: we want you to make us a video. Rather, we want you to make a intro/outro template that we can use for the Fedora Videos project.
How To Participate ?
Make a intro + outro template that a video can be prefixed/suffixed with
Shine it up, real nice. Add some barbecue sauce maybe?
Put it up somewhere: dropbox/archive.org/...
Email us and let us know!
Wait.. wait.. wait.. to find out if you won yourself goodies and Fedora tshirt!
Now, since we're going to use your template for quite a few videos, all of the fedora videos project actually, we request you to license your material accordingly: please use CC by SA.
What is Fedora Videos Project, We have lots of community videos strewn around the interwebs. Some on Youtube,others on Vimeo, others are just hosted some place. They aren't really well organized, and so, it's difficult to find them when you need them.What we're trying to do is to take all these, add proper titles,subtitles, translations, licenses and place them at one location(archive.org) so that everyone can find and use them. That's where the contest comes in. We want a good intro/outro template that we can easily modify and use for the videos that we put up. Makes sense now, doesn't it?. If you want to eat some hot dogs with us while making community videos, come right in (link to mailing list mktg)!
For other details regarding the Fedora Video Contest visit the wiki page [1] . If you still have questions feel free to ask any of the video team members [2] .
So let the game begin , and lets give a hard time to our judges by lots of awesome participation .

FAmNA Meeting Announcement (04 September 2012)
by inode0
Please join us for our weekly FAmNA meeting this Tuesday at 9:00pm
Eastern in #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net.
I'd like to remind everyone that it is important for us to get some work
accomplished at these meetings and staying on the topic is important
to that end. All comments are welcome from ambassadors during the
meetings but please wait until the Open Floor to add any subject matter
not included in the meeting agenda via a ticket.
Feel free to add to the agenda. The easy way to add an agenda item is
described at the bottom of this announcement. Especially if you have an
event coming up that needs some attention.
== Meeting Agenda ==
=== Announcements ===
Time for brief announcements.
=== Orientation Topics ===
After giving this some thought I have concluded there is way too much
material for one meeting so we'll add one or two topics each week
until we have everything covered. Please add topics or suggest future
topics for us to cover.
* ???
=== Tickets ===
Tickets scheduled for discussion at this meeting can be found at
https://fedorahosted.org/famna/report/9
Please read through each ticket in advance so you can be prepared to
discuss them at the meeting.
=== Open Floor ===
Unscheduled topics can be raised during the open floor if time
permits. Discussion of any topic will generally be more productive if
participants know about the topics in advance and have some time to
think about them, so please add your topics to the meeting agenda in
the ticket system when possible.
If you would like to add a topic for discussion at our meetings please
open a ticket at
https://fedorahosted.org/famna/
and set its milestone to meeting.
Thanks,
John
