Deadline for FAD Phnom Penh is tomorrow (26 Sept 2014)
by Somvannda Kong
Dear All APAC Ambassadors,
I would like to remind you all that tomorrow is our deadline for applying
to attend the FAD Phnom Penh. Please kindly use this
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD:PhnomPenh_2014 to apply your name there
and we will make decision and approve ticket in our bi-weekly meeting on 26
Sept 2014.
During the discussion in Hanoi, and due the flight ticket is quiet cheap
for Ambassadors in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, if we book in advance
or with promotional. So if you are the Ambassadors from the three
countries, please kindly apply and we will still have to make decision as
well as others.
I am looking forward to see more people apply.
Kindly regards,
Somvannda

Self Introduction - Fedora ambassador from India
by Siddhesh Poyarekar
Hi,
I have been a fairly long time contributor to Fedora mainly as a
package maintainer. I have maintained or co-maintained a number of
packages in Fedora over the years including gource, gst123, LibRaw,
eog, shotwell, ayttm (lead developer upstream), libyahoo2 (lead
developer upstream), gdb-heap and glibc. I also contributed briefly
as a bugzapper, although I wasn't the most active of bugzappers. I am
currently a maintainer in the glibc upstream project and I co-maintain
the RHEL glibc package as my day job at Red Hat.
I have been co-organizer for a number of Fedora events in the past
including the FUDCon in 2011 (I had three talks there too) and Fedora
Activity Days. I am looking forward to be of help as an ambassador.
My personal goal is to grow the Fedora and FOSS contributor community
in India.
Siddhesh

Self Introduction
by pravin.d.s@gmail.com
Hi All,
Already my 7+ years with Fedora. I never miss chance to promote Fedora
in conferences. Today onwards i will do this officially :) Thanks to kushal
for approving my Ambassador [1] request.
I am main developers for liberation-fonts, Lohit, ibus-sayura and
ibus-rawcode. Over the years i have also contributed to QT, glibc,
fontconfig, pango and harfbuzz. More information about me available at [2]
Main purpose is to promote Fedora in India, increasing users and
contributors community and actively participate ambassadors activity around
world. I got a chance to meet Truong and Jiri in flock-2014. Attending
there presentations motivated me too join this group. I am already member
of Fedora marketing team and want to see how we can better implement
strategies decided by Fedora marketing team in Fedora Ambassadors group.
My expertise is internationalization. India is a country with 22
official language excluding English. In Fedora we are doing excellent by
supporting all of these language. I would like to work with Ambassadors
group and make see how we can effectively reach to target audience and make
them aware regarding features of Fedora. We are already trying to do it but
i still feel long way to go.
Best Regards,
Pravin Satpute

Fedora store
by Ruth Suehle
Yes! You read the subject line correctly! We are much closer now to being able to have an online store stocked with Fedora goods. I just need some input on what we stock it with, as we'll be responsible for things that don't sell. We're only able to stock 4-6 items to start with. A few questions:
- What types of items are you most interested in having in the store? Think about price points, shipping weight, etc. Here's the Red Hat store if you need some inspiration: https://redhat.corpmerchandise.com
- Is it worth "using up" one of the items we can stock for small things like pens or stickers that are frequently acquired at conferences, or do you think there are a lot of people who never make it to conferences who would want to buy those things online?
- I assume at least one item will be a t-shirt. Do you want a simple shirt with the Fedora logo on it, more of a shirt design we already have, or do you want us to go to the design team and have them work on something specifically for this purpose?
Thanks!
