Hi everyone Perhaps this is not news anymore but it seems the relevance of the Ambassadors Programme is in doubt. There is a Mindshare Ticket probing for role of Fedora Ambassadors in 2019 and best use of resources/time/energy (https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/145) Have you seen it? What are your thoughts? Are we jaded? Say something ... here, there. Perhaps I am hanging on to an old concept -- the nostalgia must have been too strong. Regards Onyeibo

@bex, thanks for setting me straight on all this. I do appreciate all that the board does. And I am new compared to everyone else. I should just continue to go with the flow for a while until I truly understand the structure and methods of the Project as a whole. I think the ambassador program is a good one. I don't think it should be cancelled. But sometimes I feel like it it's really difficult to attend significant events. Sure we can have tiny events in our living rooms and such. But events where we mingle with others in the industry are difficult to get funding for. I have seen past Ambassador event budgets and have been shocked as to how much was spent. Knowing that, I set out to make my event spending a bit more frugal. However, unless one is employed by Red Hat, being an Ambassador is not a payed role but volunteer. And to get us out to key regional events costs money. This money thing should be approved with common sense, frugality of course, and curtisy. We volunteer time. We should not have to beg for swag, travel, and lodging (for events far from home). Also, we might want to create a talking point list for all the cool things in fedora. Last year, a few things caught me off guard. I had to play catch up at events during any down time I had. But all that, if Mindshare wants to take over everything we do for, most of them are Red Had employees. Who are we to oppose?
