Hi all,
Thanks for your attention about the recent discussions and decisions about
the new FAmSCo election guidelines. I want to tell you what I have in mind.
As the minutes of last week recorded, I have brought forth my thoughts and
concerns about the changes. IMHO, it is alright from me given that all
members addressed my POV, though I respect every member, ambassador and
everyone from Fedora project chosen me in last 2 elections to serve a full
term. So I trust the current policy/system, especially on the voting of the
changes.
Along my years in Ambassadors Team and the 1.5 terms of my FAmSCo
membership, there had been discussions on "get rules right" vs "get things
done" in different areas. In this situation, I do believe my vote
is beneficial to the whole FAm team to move on for a more productive state.
I cannot predict the future, and I decided based on the info I have.
I understood the re-election (options 1 - 4) are all not perfectly fair to
all in FAmSCo and FAm. I am the one who will be affected and asked "Why the
results of last election can be replaced or reused?" Besides, I have talked
to a few ambassadors who have done well in organising events and promotion
of Fedora. They have shown interest to go for the re-election, which is
probably going to steer the FAm more successful than current FAmSCo
structure.
Re-election also gives me an opportunity to rethink my position in FAms.
Despite my tech side kept nagging me to put more time on dev, I will not
decide whether I will be in re-election or not before FUDCon APAC. No
matter what, I am still a mentor and facilitator in building up the
community in APAC region. I will still share all my knowledge and
experience to everyone in FAm.
I sincerely request your trust to the FAmSCo, Board and all who had spent
time for better Fedora Project. :D
Regards,
