I don't think distributing also the sources is a good idea. Most users do not use it, and the users who want the sources do know how to download it.

I was talking about in practice.  But guess yeah, as many video
DVDs are double-layered.

Then I really don't see why we may do double-sided.

So are DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RAM, and bazillion others.
Not all early drives handled them all.
