DISCLAIMER: This email should have had arrived earlier but I became a Fedora Ambassador
only recently so I could post it just now.
Hello everyone,
My name is Anxhelo, I'm a Fedora Ambassador for Albania, and also a member at Open
Labs Hackerspace, the first hackerspace in Albania. We have a local Fedora community
already established with 5 Fedora Ambassadors and many events during the past years. Every
year members from the hackerspace organize OSCAL (Open Source Conference Albania), our
biggest annual conference.
OSCAL (Open Source Conference Albania) is the first annual conference in Albania organized
to promote software freedom, open source software, free culture and open knowledge. The
Conference will gather free libre open source technology users, developers, academics,
governmental agencies and people who share the idea that software should be free and open
for the local community and governments to develop and customize to its needs; that
knowledge is a communal property and free and open to everyone.
You can find more info on the official website:
https://osc.al
This is the 5th consecutive year the conference is being organized. Fedora has been
present in the conference since the first year that we had several ambassadors to
represent the project. OSCAL has been one of the main factors that has helped in the
involvement of new contributors in the Fedora community. Many students learn about Fedora
first at OSCAL and have become regular contributors to the project, including myself.
Every year, Fedora has sponsored various Ambassadors to give talks/hold workshops about
various topics at the conference. We believe that OSCAL is a good opportunity to attract
newcomers and increase the number of contributors in the project (and Fedora users in
Albania). We would like to do the same as every year. Any thoughts about this or is anyone
interested to join OSCAL 2018 this year? We have opened our CFP (
https://osc.al/cfp) and
the deadline is March 15.
Thank you very much.
Best,
Anxhelo
