I'd recommend reading this page[0] which provides detailed information about the Ambassador Membership process. Also, it's mentioned here[1] that "A mentor will NOT initiate contact with you. You MUST initiate contact with a mentor." Should you feel ready to become an ambassador, pick a mentor from the list (located in your region), then sent him/her an introduction e-mail asking to mentor you.
