In regards to message 7 and onwards, listen, who cares about what the meanings of the page on release notes are. Its just plain marketing and these discussions are too political. There is no way to be that neutral and try not to offend everyone. This is an international distro and who cares about what the photos mean or words mean. it just plain fun to see the advertising page and when I looked at it, I dont see anything wrong with it. So please, enough of the political interpretations and lets just move forward to the real topics at hand, by the way, I was in a gang and none of these things are ever remotely associated with O.G., ok? I know what ganstas are so please this release page DOES NOT have any associations of it!!

Max,

This sounds like a fun-yet-important thing to do for the Fedora Project :)
I am interested too in joining the rotation.

Possibly we could also divide the time-money-responsibilities into the
4 regional FADs and FUDCON leaders. This way we could have better
results, as one "global guy" cannot "feel" each regional community as
a "regional guy" could do.

Then again the "4-regions" division could be like fragmentation of the
global community. How about a guy for NA and LATAM, and another guy
for EMEA and APAC ?
This seems like a nice idea, as NA and LATAM have many things in
common, just like EMEA and APAC (culture, proximity, less travel
expenses etc)

What do you thing?

I think this is really interesting. I too would like to join the rotation :D
Maybe it would be good to have two people doing this as a team. Ideally
they would be in different timezones so just in case someone needs some
attention by either one of those guys there always is at least one guy
available to talk to.

Hello my fellow Ambassadors!

Last weekend we had a nice event here in Athens [1] and Fedora was
there with a great Booth and many people :)

Needless to say, we had the best booth and presence as a community
there and we attracted many newcomers especially with our Translation
Marathon for Fedora 13 during the event.
On the wiki page [2] you can find some blogposts-reports on the event
and this [3] nice gallery of photos from our presence there.

We had a dual-projector setup with many swag (mostly produced by us)
and some nice little ideas (like "Try me!" signs)

Many thanks to all the Greek fellows, that helped the Fedora be on its
best one more time :)

Next target for Fedora Greek Community is FossComm 2010 [4] (we
started organizing already [5]) which is the biggest foss event in
Greece and we are more than sure that it's going to be a fabulous
appearance of Fedora there with many new persons helping out.

I agree  with Pierros, fun and important. I have to add that it is
also a challenging position as may require deal we people's passions.

I think that up and running may be true about 15 hours weekly. But to
get there will require a lot more hours each week.

Probably I will be a good idea to gather some help from now until this
position it appointed, and I will like to help.

I think this is an outstanding idea.  I have one comment re the rotating.

So from an outsiders perspective, I infer that there must a lot of
internal wrangling that occurs, especially for the larger events such
as FUDcon. I suspect that alot of the internal wrangling (and I don't
mean to make it sound bad, it's just part of the process, be that
budgetary or whatever else) is the reason that the community at large
hasn't picked up the responsibility. (And if it isn't, and this is
something the community should be picking up, please correct me, I'd
hate to think that we want FUDcons and FADs so bad and yet aren't
doing the work thats needed if it's something we can do). That leads
me to believe that this internal wrangling has a learning curve that
is non-trivial, and that repeating it would be a waste of time and
resources. If it takes a month to get someone up to speed, having to
repeat it for each FUDcon sounds likely to be an excercise in
frustration.

I think that the open participation and the aim to provide chances to
different locations for events are bound to require this repeating
exercise, frustrating and all... yet another characteristic for the
person appointed for such task: Patience (lot of it!)

It's nicely done, though on "Help make Fedora" I strongly disagree with
the image presented as it clear shows signs of "Ghetto culture". You
shouldn't address an international community displaying such symbols.
Every time that Communication hits International Communities or
Minorities, it should be reviewed carefully at cultural level.

Just my 2 cents...

You mean 3 friends being happy to work together is a sign of ? ghetto
culture ? ?

This photo shows nothing more than how great it is to be contributing
to the Fedora Project, don't try to see anything more :)

I looked for the wiki and found that at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_12_one_page_release_notes
Can you elaborate? Seriuosly.
Because as I am part of the international community, I am too far off
to identify what you mean by Ghetto Culture in that picture. I really
don't get your point, and I think is worth exploring.
For me one thumb up is good. Extending thumb and little finger is a
surfer sing, people have told me it means a wish for good waves to
ride on.

Best regards
