New Fedora Ambassadors

Hi,

Can we make the ambassadors approval process more transparent.

Personally I want to get a copy of ambassador request to the Sri Lankan
Ambassador mailing list.

How can it get any
more transparent, than to the main mailing list ?
All ambassadors should be enlisted on this list anyway, as a matter of
course.

   1. The FAmA trac is currently managed by jsimon. I can see the tickets
   once I logged in, but I am not sure what are the access permissions
   required.

   2. There are more than 100 active tickets in FAmA trac. There are no
   fields for storing the geographic location of the FAm requests. Applicants
   can put into the ticket, or in their profile wiki pages. No way to
   query/filter that out except manually.

   3. Changing FAmA trac into fully public involves consents from FAmSCo or
   even jsimon. I personally guess quorum voting is needed by FAmSCo to make
   this change (presume there are substantial demand shown on mailing list,
   generally saying). Besides, infra team should change without large problem
   once the decision was made.

If I am not wrong, disclosure of applicant identity have both pros and cons
-  ambassadors team and public can supply previous contributions and
reputations through the ticket, but this affect the fairness of FAm
assessments.

or other way around, do you confuse pro-activity with transparency?
I do not see where the approval process is intransparent, because every
step is documented in the fama trac and visible for people with a FAS
Account.

If the membership process is broken, fix it! If not, we should focus on
things we need to improve as Ambassadors.
