Organizing a Fedora Women Day 2017 event

Hello ambassadors,

Fedora Women Day (FWD) is a day of celebration dedicated to the female
contributors of the Fedora Project. During this day of celebration, local
communities around the world will gather to present the accomplishments of
the women that are part of the Fedora Project and thank them. FWD is a
great chance to promote the participation of more women, bring together
contributors and raise awareness about the gender gap in tech communities.


*When and where*
This year FWD is planned to be organized during September. Since it is
difficult to determine a specific date for an event like this, it is up to
the local communities to pick the most appropriate date for them during the
month of September.


*Are you interested in organizing Fedora Women Day?*
If you would like to organize a FWD event in your region, there is more
information about event organizing on our wiki page

important to *confirm
your participation* as an organizer *by August 20th 2017*. There are a few
guidelines to help you put together an event, such as agenda ideas and
planning points for you to use. A FWD event also does not have to be in a
physical place either. You can also participate remotely with one of the
events happening in September via audio/video call.

Hello,

I am the President of the Ohio LinuxFest (OLF) which is a weekend
conference in Columbus, Ohio. We are scheduled for the 15th annual event on
September 29 and 30. Fedora has already reserved a table for the expo.

If it would be welcomed, I am interested in submitting a ticket for holding
FWD as a birds of a feather function. My concern is that I might not have
the energy that this entails to make FWD@OLF a success and hope that other
ambassadors would help.

Please let me know if others plus one this idea.

I like a lot your idea to have FWD as a bird of a feather session at Ohio
Linux Fest and would love to hear the feedback of people that will attend
it. On the other hand, I understand your concern that you need more people
to help you organize it and I really hope that local ambassadors can help
you. Even though I strongly encourage you to organize it, even if only 5-10
people will join maybe their opinions/feedback would be really helpful for
us, +1 for my part to organize it. Please let me know how can I help you to
make it happen :)

I am an Ambassador in North America, but I don't know if I'll be able to
attend OLF this year. If there's anything that I can do to help plan or
put something together, I'd be more than happy to help. I think there
might be a couple of other Fedorans who usually make it to OLF (I can
think of one person specifically in Indiana, so not too far).

Dear Ambassadors,

I am so sorry that I dropped the ball on this and never followed through
with issuing a ticket for the Fedora Women's Day at Ohio LinuxFest,
September 29 and 30.

Fedora will have a table in the expo thanks to Andrew Ward and Ben
Williamson. Also, Mo Duffy is keynoting. See below my signature for
details.

I suppose there is still time to do something informally. On the off-chance
that they are able to attend, I cc-ed two other Fedora women ambassadors
that I would love to see again: Mel Chua and Karlie Robinson.

MÁIRÍN DUFFY

Máirín ‘Mo’ Duffy is a principal interaction designer at Red Hat as well as
the team lead for Fedora’s community design team. A recipient of the 2016
O’Reilly Open Source Award, Máirín has over a decade of expertise in user
experience and design in Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS)
communities. Her portfolio includes a wide range of designs for FLOSS
including Mailman/Hyperkitty, Anaconda, numerous components of the Fedora
project infrastructure, Spacewalk, virt-manager, the GNOME desktop, as well
as other projects such as the SELinux and Container Coloring Books.

Máirín is a passionate advocate for software freedom, particularly in the
creative domain. Her design workflow is 100% FLOSS, involving tools such as
