Call for tester/feedback on fedocal

Dear all,

Lately, I have spent sometime working on a web-application that would
allow us to manage calendar: fedocal.

I started with the idea to replace the #fedora-meeting wiki page [1]
which in addition from not being up to date relies on a mediawiki table
which a number of person find really hard to handle/edit.

Additionally it should be able to handle meeting reminder in a
consistent and automated manner.

I also had in mind to be able to have a calendar for the infrastructure,
things like planned outage and all.

I spoke with some person about this at the last FUDCon in Paris and they
told me, it might be interesting to have a calendar also available for
the ambassadors.
Something that could/would replace the Events page [2]. This means that
on the contrary to the #fedora-meeting calendar, the ambassador one can
have several meetings at the same time and that we should be able to
assign them to a region (EMEA/APAC/LATAM/NA).
I took this into account and added the desired functionality to fedocal.

I think I am now close to an alpha release so I would like to call for
tester and feedback.

What should be added?
What simply doesn't work?

I would like to raise my hand to be your testing lab rat for this project.
I really happy to see this application running, and I have tons of idea
around this. First of it we ambassadors we already have an schedule, what
is made by our program manager. That would be nice addition to have it here
to be synchronized..... But, I try to gather my ideas (without in order):

- Pushing immediate reminders (nudge) with fedmsg
- First direct filtering after login based on region and team membership
necessary
- Further filtering based on events, or trac tickets.
- Include Holiday markings (and weekends), so with that you can prevent
collisions, coverings with other meetings
- Colouring on filtered list
- Export possibility from web (save as pdf, ical, etc) - or sync online to
an local app
- Local app on the user machine, that syncs to this web app - able to add
$meetings, $events to fedlocal (I recommend Geary http://yorba.org/geary/,
because it behaves as RSS like and it can be a nice common UI for mails,
reminders, dates, tasks, shedule, requests, and more - deeply modular)
- Whenisgood.net like ability for planning - *http://whenisgood.net/

For these three ideas, I'm not quite sure what you have in mind. Could

hm I'm not sure what you mean here. Do note that after login the
timezone changes.
After, it's not because you're not in a group that you do not want to
know when that group is meeting, or am I reading your suggestion
wrongly?

It would mean including national holidays for each and every
nationalities we have in the project, I'm not sure I'm fan of it.

For the week-ends, it should be duable to give them another color
although for most of the community, week-end are actually the working
days ;-)

Having a CLI or desktop application to interact with fedocal is a nice
idea, but let's keep it for later :)
At the moment:
- add/edit/delete -> website only
- read -> website + any client that uses either the API or the iCal
feed.

The question is for this, do we want it in fedocal or in a stand-alone
application ?

If we can determine the date / month / year with an easier way than
clicking right
/ left manually, it would be very helpful.

Add the year and the month (and day) of interest after this url and you
get the list of meeting that will/have happen(ed) in this
year/month/day.

There is no "list" for the past meeting, but you can access the meetings
of a paste month or year.
(Note that the API allows to retrieve meetings that will/have happen(ed)
in between two dates)

I guess I see the idea, you want a place where you can choose the year,
and the month (and eventually the day).

This should be nice for event tracking too.  All calendar stuff should
have an entry but can be filtered out using 'keywords' or 'tag'.  So if
the application is generic, it is useful to everyone.  So say, an
ambassador wants to see EMEA meetings ... he/she can select two tags,
"meetings" and "EMEA".  Something like that.  Summary: a tagging
feature
will be nice.

Hm, so tags and possibility to add a region to a meeting (not only for
events). Tags is/was not planned yet, region for the meetings is a
simple settings when creating the agenda.

Would you mind to open a ticket for the tags ?

Understood.  I strongly believe that any content "wiki, waki, or whatever" which
is not updated is never to anyone's advantage.

Would multiple "events" for EMEA and APAC on the same day and at the same time
be possible?

Would the "metrics" needed by FAmSCo on quarterly basis of events be easily
accessible from this interface?

Is(are) there available test user(s) accounts to try and "add,"
"change," as well as "delete" calendar entries?  I think a few
accounts, let's say, one per region for testing may be useful to see how things look
with populated data from a timeframe such as a Release Date.  Food for thought.  :)

Questions:

* If the Meetings page [1] goes away and is replaced by this, how will the current
agenda's be accessible to us as well as "non regular" Fedora Users?
* If the Events page [2] goes away and is replaced by this, then will the Reports and
Photos links be accessible to us as well as "non regular" Fedora Users?
* I tried the "test" calendar link and clicked up a few years and I saw 
this sample 2016 data at the [3] URL.  Will meeting entries have a "stop" date?
