Hello mates ;)
I have a Fedora website up and running now. The base feels done, now i need to translate as much as possible. Currently i am translating the installation guide for FC4. After that i am going to translate stuff like "managing software with yum" and other stuff from both fedora.redhat.com and fedoraproject.org.
If there are any ambassadors that are involved in any specific projects, for example some kind of software project for fedora core, please let me know. I want to have descriptions of as many projects as possible at my website.
If anyone have any suggestions on things to translate and publish, or whatever, tell me... please... im all alone here ;)
website can be found at: http://fedora.kampnytt.com (i finally choose xoop, mainly because other ambassadors seemes to use it, and it feels good enough)
Now to something really frustrating. Ubuntu users are infecting the Swedish community. Instead of helpning beginners with whatever distro they have installed, these creepy ubuntu users convince the beginners to install ubuntu...
I am trying my best to promote Fedora Core, but also not to look down on someone that have chosen another distro. Yesterday a beginner came to a swedish linuxcommunity and had some software installation issues with mandriva. A solution to his problem was easy, but instead they tricked him to change distro to Ubuntu.
Its hard to be alone and fight this "infection" ;)
Ubuntu ships cds free all over the world to any one who wants it. The deliverytime is a bit slow. Its produced cds where you get one install cd and one livecd... I feel that we in the Fedora community needs to start making Fedora avaible in more ways. We really need a working and complete livecd for either download och shipping.
Well, im going to continue my translating work.
Until next time..
Mikael Jacobsson
This is wonderful work Mikael! Thank you, Alex

I've been thinking about this for a while. I think I would like to initiate a new project beginning FC5 release date.
I'm going to call it "Fedora Free Media Project" and I'm going to start distributing DVDs for free anyone who wants in US for now.
Yes, I'll burn myself and I'll send them myself. Of course, I'm not a millionaire like Ubuntu Founder, Mr. Shuttleworth but I think I can afford to send 5 or 6 DVDs a week.
I'll start putting my idea on a wiki and I welcome anyone who like to help me on this project.

I've a little company where i ship open source software for free, i think that fedora have to invite other companies to burn and distribute the fedora cdrom, or invite computer sellers to select Fedora instead of Windows. It's the cheapest way to make fedora avaiable for all.

Yes, its a good idea, but the computer sellers is another kind of situation. Builders needs some support around the retail Linux installed. In argentina exists two providers for builders. If you dont get the correct lead to Builders its impossible. The most important possibility is create a retail edition DVD and some little enterprises around the countries give commercial support for the distribution. So this money get (in argentina gets until U$S 4-8 per host installed year support) part of this money can be delivered to burn more DVDs to give for all people around that.
The solution resides on get money to spread Fedora. This is my point of view, of course. Best Regards PabloBarrera

Hi Pablo,
If you support my proposal, please add yourself as a *distributor* with your location in http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FreeMedia
Once again the key here is *Free* and I expect everyone in Fedora Community Free Media Project distribute Fedora Media *Free* as much as possible in their community by themselves.

Hi Thomas, Ive added my self to the Distributor List. We are only two around the world :-( ??? I will start with 10 cds for february. About this, someone has the cd labels in EPS format for printing it? and paste into the DVDs?
Best regards! PabloBarrera

As I mentioned in my proposal, this program will not be roll out until FC5 release date, which is March 20th:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FreeMedia
To cut the cost and time, only DVD media will be distributed at that time.
We don't have any official DVD label but I'm planning to make one by then.
In the mean time, please follow a procedure described for Fedora Logo Policy:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing/Logo
Make sure to mention it will be used for Fedora Community Free Media Project. -- Thomas Chung http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ThomasChung

I can help, but I don't have any company or anything massive I probably can help like Thomas, distributing about 4 or 5 DVDs or CD sets per week in Indonesia.
I have this in mind, how do we filter out people who want the dvd's, on what base do we decide who and how many dvds should one receive, etc. If there will be an online form for this, how do we coordinate shipment?
I have many thoughts running about this, and above is just a few random bugs which probably have very simple answers.. anyway, count me in on this one :-)

Hi John,
Thank you for participation. This program is basically you run it on your own time with your own resources. You can even make your own decision who gets the media. After all, it's your time and money you'll be donating to promote the project in your local area.
I'll provide you any much support I can give you including Online Request Form and Media Template. We'll be discussing more in detail by the time FC5 release date.
Please make sure to complete Fedora Ambassadors Emails[1] and Fedora Logo Policy[2] as you'll be needed to distribute media with Logo.

Ok, i've done that.
