Hi Bex and Alick,
We already add the goal of this FUDCon APAC 2017 and why we held in
Depok City in the wiki.
Fo the concern about team : We only two for now just for prepare bid proposal. After we get green
light about it. We plan ask student council in University to join as Local Committee. And we plan open registration for volunteer. We need about 10% from total participants, around 30-35 people.
For Ticket sale like bex already mention before : Ticket sale is commonly in Indonesia. Why not set as free? Because when
we set free, people just register but not come for event. It is make difficult for local committee. This decision (Ticket Sale) base on our experience from GNOME.Asia Summit 2015 at Depok, and openSUSE.Asia Summit 2016 last October in Yogyakarta.
Travel expense just for speaker and some people who make contribution
for Fedora (Amba, etc). For ordinary people, they just come with their budget.
We will spend budget from ticket sale to t-shirt and meal. Why we cover
meal for each attendee? Because it will save time for people search food court and keep attendee in conference venue.
Thank You.

Leaving aside the how do we collect the money and ensure it is used
properly question, I think your second question merits further discussion.
I recognize that we have traditionally said both forms of free.
However, I also recognize that in some cultures if an event is free it is considered to have no value by the community and therefore will receive poor attendance, attendance from individuals who are not in the target audience and/or lots of no-shows.
I think we should explore whether breaking "free as in beer" while
preserving "free as in speech" is appropriate for some events.
Ultimately, I think this may need to go to the council, but a healthy
debate here is critical as Ambassadors are the people most directly knowledgeable about their regions and cultures.

Hi,
Just some notes from my side.
1. We expected this bid back in September, can you explain why you come now?
2. We made at the last FAD in Kuala Lumpur a decision to couple the FAD with the FUDCon as our region has only a 10k budget and we can not afford to hold an FAD anymore with it as we have to pay this kind of FAD from our regional budget. But we still need it. You was at least physical present during that FAD so you should know it and you also know that the purpose for this FAD is to make the budget planning what requires to do it July or at least begin of August so that we can submit it in September.
Question here, why you simple go now for another date
3. We granted the indonesian community back at FAD in Singapore, 3.000$ for an FAD to reactivate the indonesian community, which is a bit sleepy during the last years. It was you who wanted to do this FAD, so now how can it be that nobody else from them is involved? Do you have any plans to work with the other Indonesians together?
Besides that there are some failures in the bid, like why you recommending VoA, most will arrive definitive at JKT and can go for the Visa Waiver, which costs nothing instead of paying 35$. I assume nobody of us wants to extend his stay over a month. There are also some calculation failures (or better you missed to clean it as you copied) you calculating with 350 visitors and 10$ for the catering a day, makes 350$ a day so for 2 days 700$ not 3.500$

The budget process is changing and this date is no longer fixed this way. If it helps, I would encourage this group to think about the FAD and FUDCon separately. Hopefully a way can be found to drive more of your budget planning virtually with the FAD being used for action, not discussion. However, the point is valid, and perhaps this point can used as part of the decision matrix with regards to FADs as those are available.

It was you who wanted to do this FAD, so now how can it be that nobody else from them is involved? Do you have any plans to work with the other Indonesians together?
I think it is important than an event like a FUDCon have multiple supporting organizers. I am sure that previous FUDCon organizers will tell you how much work is involved. Your comment that no one else from Indonesia is supporting you is worrisome.
Besides that there are some failures in the bid, like why you recommending VoA, most will arrive definitive at JKT and can go for the Visa Waiver, which costs nothing instead of paying 35$. I assume nobody of us wants to extend his stay over a month.
Sirko, I didn't see anything in the Wiki recommending one visa type over another. Can you point out the suggestion and then use the wiki to make an edit?
There are also some calculation failures (or better you missed to clean it as you copied) you calculating with 350 visitors and 10$ for the catering a day, makes 350$ a day so for 2 days 700$ not 3.500$
Actually $10 per day for 350 people is $3500. However, at least as of now, the wiki says $10 for 2 days. For 350 estimated attendees at a 2 day conference this is $3500.
