Hello everyone,
here's the analysis for the event held at the Milan University [1].
The event was dedicated to Fedora and planned for 4 hours on Saturday and
it was deliberately separated from Linux Day (held in the same University, but
in different rooms) and was thematic toward our distribution.
With this event we tried to involve the largest number of people in the
Fedora Project by explanations and practical sessions.
Bringing people in the fedora project was our goal.
There were two available classrooms, one for the talks and one for the
practical sessions.
The attendance to the Linux Day, in general, seemed rather weak but,
closed in a room, I could not verify the presence of people outside.
The FAD was constantly followed by about thirty people, I didn't check the
ones that went in and out.
This event was dedicated to the Fedora Project, non-unitary with others
distributions, and we did not expect the presence of a lot people, but we
believe the audience that came to follow exclusively our event was
appreciable.
The talks of colleagues and volunteers were really interesting and they
made excellent speeches promoting participation into the Project.
People have appreciated the speeches, they applauded at the end of each
talk, and our speakers shown their competence, even on subjects such as kernel
or packaging.
We didn't want to annoy the participants and we didn't annoy them.
We distributed some gadgets and received requests for information.
The parallel session, limited to packaging, saw the presence, at least, of
a dozen people who followed Gianluca with great interest.
What makes us sure that we followed the right way, in addition to
presentations very well done and the presence of people who stayed in our
classrooms, is due to the requests received after event.
In particular we received two requests: the first is a contact request for
future events into schools made by a spectator who also requested information
about joining the Ambassador group (of course, we'll verify the competence and
the interest, the contact is held by Deneb) and the second is the request,
made by a couple of participants, to receive all the slides, which I'm
preparing.
I believe that our event could be considered a good result.
