Hi Zoltan!

I made those version independent flyers and you can have them in
editable .odt format from the link on the wiki.

I suggest you update them a little, mainly on two points :

* New mailing list
* Current "edge" features

... and I took the English Version and translated it to german and
pasted it into the wiki.
I know its maybe a little bit to late for the actual ongoing FAD in
Mönchengladbach, my apologies, but hopefully it can be used on some
upcoming events.
My only change other then translating it was to change the Mailinglist
URL. Other suggestions are welcome.

Btw, I'm planning to have all of the marketing stuff translated. I have
already do the Fedora Cube, before hunting down my known users next time.
Thanks for the german version, I will need it at Vienna, so this wasn't a
waste of time. THANKS!!

Pierros, do you know that will be created the famous one page release for
F13 too? Maybe we could have that format, and implement it to this. What do
you think guys?

Btw, you don't need to have that space. The files aren't stored in
ambassadors space. They are stored in wiki.

The FAD at Mönchengladbach was targeting developers and they all know
what Fedora is. ;) No need to hesitate.

Great job. It is important to have those flyers, but I have just one
more thing to put in consideration here.

Why don't we say more clearly that Fedora is alternative to Windows or
Mac OS?

People might get bit confused if we just say it is an operating system
based on Linux. There are a huge group of people out there who does not
understand what is an operating system. They know Windows and they may
know Mac or Linux (as one system), but they are not familiar with Fedora
brand/"trade-mark".

I think we should say more clearly the whole thing. Like:

"Fedora Linux OS" or "Linux Fedora OS".

Also I think we should say everywhere that it is _free_ alternative to
Windows and OSX. I think this is the only way to get Fedora more known
within "ordinary" and "non-tech" people.

We would be engaged in a trademark obligation "state the trademark
owners" and IMHO the last thing we want to do in a Fedora Flyer is to
mention Apple Inc and Mircosoft

Fedora IS an operating system with not "Linux Fedora"or something else...

We are based on GNU/Linux kernel and technologies so we need not to
confuse someone with Linux OS  Fedora Linux and such things...

One correction, it is the "free and open source" alternative of
*whatever* . Stating simply *free* is wrong (technically, ethically,
confusingly etc...)

Also, being an « alternative » could mean that those 2 are the « norm
» and we try to do the same as they do.

We should IMHO strive to be an Operating System of its own, not an
alternative to the main OSes.

You have to say those words out loud anyway when you talk with people
how does not know what Fedora is!

Or do we start talking politically correct nonsense like: "Fedora is
alternative to those other quite popular operating systems, you know
what i mean 'wink'"...

Here we go wrong! Nobody is interested of technical details and kernels
in user level. As I said before, people generally know what Windows is.
Quite many knows what Mac is and somebody may have even heard something
like Ubuntu. Anyhow, for most of the people it is the same thing
Ubuntu=Linux and (when we explain what Fedora is) Fedora=Linux.

That's right. But now you have to explain people what open source is and
what it means!

Guys, keep things simple. It is much easier to sell the Fedora idea
forward if we say things more clearly and rip out all technical
nonsense. Instead use those words what people are already familiar with
(like word "Linux"). That is the only way to push your message through.

That's what I'm going to do. It's like 80% translated already, but want
a couple of people to review it first. I'll also mail this list and
marketing list a couple of things I would like to point on the existing
texts.

I need some help, how do people generate the thumbnails ? I've noticed
they are all 1100x800.

In addition I've placed the doc on:
http://nmarques.fedorapeople.org/fedora/flyers/fedora-flyer-ind-pt.odt

I've tried some uniformity on links and adapted the links to Portuguese
pages when available (like on get-fedora etc).

My handycap now is how to get the screenshots for the images. Anyone can
throw me a "beacon of light" ?

Hi Nelson!

As I recall, I did it with GIMP (or possibly Inkscape). Just insert
them in .pdf format and then resize them as images. Finally Save them
in .png or possibly as .svg (both are OK for our wiki)
