Hi all, +1 for monthly meetings. Another work around is to divide and schedule them with time zones. For us in India it's +0530 hrs and make it at 0330 hrs.
If meetings are rotated properly then it may help. But i havn't seen meetings being rotated.

Hi Gerold and Fabian, I hate to say but I agree with you. I think weekly meeting *is* overkill for our current situation.
Therefore, I would like to propose the meeting frequency to monthly. Please let me know your thought.

Hi *,
I personally prefer such a solution:
Amnbassador meeting is on the x thursday per month, in #fedroa-meeting, for Americas at 8 p.m. local time, for EMEA at 8 p.m., for APAC at 8 p.m. and so on depends on which region we have to cover ...
But always local time (of the time zone)!
And this meetings are "mandatory" (if possible) for the region in which you live; if you want and your time zone allows you, you can also attend meetings in other regions :-)
What do you think about?

Gerold

Not mandatory in the sense one has to go to each and every one, but more like "regularly" attend.

Another reason would be that what is discussed on these meetings are quite related to the french speaking community (we speak about the association, the website, the french events...) and not only french ambassador are present, but all the member of the community that wants to be a bit more involved present on the community. What I mean is that people not part of that community would I guess be quite bored on these meeting.
However I do be in favor of the EMEA meetings, I think it would be much more interesting in the way that you definitively feel more concerned by a event that occurs close to you .
Another point that needs to be discussed, I think, is what do would be the subject of such meetings ? Is it a review of what have been done and what will be done ? Is it a discussion of what is going on around your country ? Is it like on event, reflection of what can be done and how to do it to improve the promotion of fedora, the organization of the people involved in the fedora project ? Is it a review of what has been good or bad in the relation to the fedora project ? Is it a reflection on how to improve them ?
If we want to get people involved for long in these meeting, we need to have subject, that "can not" be discussed via the mailing list...
"Why should we go to the meeting ?" This question is, to my mind, one of the most important.
Well that is it for me :) Just my two cents to the reflection about these meetings :)

One of the reason I think the amb meeting used to work but didn't, is that, from my point of view, that i never recovered from alex's departure. She was more than a guide for us and had such a strong personality that her action was more than motivating.
Then I think that the amb meeting are good for new amb only. When people get to know each other, they work on events by their own means, and not through the meetings.

That is why our French meeting work that great... our mailing list is not as active as I would have liked it to be, and not as active as the fp amb ml one. For example, such a topic would have been discussed during a meeting only. Too bad perhaps, but the meetings for French Ambs about French activities is a damn good way to know that other people are active and take part in the marketing process of the distro.
About the time and date, we first had our meeting on a private French channel, then we were asked by someone from the fp to do it on #fedora-meeting and changing once more would disappoint my troups :) The hour seems to be ideal for French people, I don't think we would agree to change it. Otherwise, it would mean we would have to recreate all the stuff that make people want to attend it and feel deeply sorry not to.
Well that is it for me :) Just my two cents to the reflection about these meetings :)

The weekly meetings absence is a long time problem, now we haven't to speculate with lies etc...
But i don't want be polemic.
I've led a big piece of this year metting (i've stop to do that after nobody takes care of those), and i may say people join those ones only for "controversial" proposal. But this isn't the real reason: because we discuss about something interested them, because the topics touch them.
Probably the cause is mine, but i think a (Global, EMEA, etc...) meeting is usefull only when discuss about things that interest all.
So, we haven't to make the list of the next events, we know they annoy people; we haven't to say the same things they can find in the Mailing List. We have to focus on something that will make Weekly (Monthly, Yearly ....) IRC meeting's interesting.
This is the problem ... no others

I think this is an accurate statement. For those of us that have done a few events we know how things are supposed to work for event, how to get materials for the event and we don't have as much of a need to discuss the event in a meeting.
I know for the first Ohio Linux Fest we attended in 2006, I attended meetings to help get questions answered for that event. This year we ran the booth again for the Ohio Linux Fest and we just didn't have many questions - so less need for a meeting.

It seems most of us are agreeing on the idea of monthly meeting. Great. I also like the idea of having regional group meetings by America, Europe and Asia at local times. Now, we need meeting leaders for each region. If you'd like be the leader for the regional group meeting just like French Ambassadors, please step up and let Fabian know.
Fabian, please collect information from everyone who wants to be the leader the regional Ambassadors meeting and update our meeting wiki page accordingly[1]. Their meeting time could be determined by their leaders.
BTW, I'm giving Fabian an executive power to form *whole* new way of having future Fedora Ambassadors meetings base on this conversation. In fact, please archive current wiki page[1] and create a new wiki page to start a new chapter.
