I like the idea of Fedora in stores, and it wouldnt be too hard in terms of demand. However i must agree with Joerg on dummy tools and such for as it stands now there is still to much tweaking to be done to make it completely dummy proof.

i do not remember to commented on "dummy-tools" but just to clarify my view of things in general - sometimes we need tools but if you are using tools - know your tools!

I decided a while back that if I ever ran a computer store, I'd sell Fedora discs for 5 USD apiece. Sounds like a good idea to me.

this is great idea. not only the original fedora discs can be sold, but also, the respins & the update packages. we can also provide separate discs for the rpmfusion repos.
I think we (the fedora community and ambassadors) cant make rpmfusion disks. From what I know this would violate our general guidelines on free software and as we cant provide it with our downloads we could not provide it with our media. The idea itself sounds great, it would be cool to drag more attention to the fedora project by vendors selling our DVDs.
With kind regards,
Fabian "underscores" Kanngiesser :)

i thought we were talking about commercially selling discs that contains fedora stuff. i can say that most of fedora users use rpmfusion (including admins of fedora), this fact doesn't make rpmfusion compatible with fedora project fundamentals. however, selling a disc that contains the rpmfusion repo doesn't violate any rule.

this is what we as Fedora-Project itself will not do once again http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Distribution/LocalVendors

that's why i said this can be done as a commercial act, not as an ambassador. for me, i don't even have a place to display such discs for selling, we were discussing how sufficient it's to sell fedora stuff.

The only thing that can be produced/labeled with the Fedora marks (such as the Fedora name and logo) is an unmodified disc equal to what the Fedora Project officially ships. Anything else is not Fedora. That doesn't have a bearing on producing or selling discs of rpmfusion software -- although rpmfusion might be somewhat off-topic for a list that's about supporting and promoting Fedora regionally.
