Dear Ambassadors,
the year 2014 has brought many changes to the Fedora Project and, as the year isn't over yet, there are still some more to come. That's why it's important for us to find the time to get together and discuss and plan our activities for the upcoming year 2015.
In EMEA we have our traditional, yearly Fedora Ambassadors Days (FAD) to plan our budget and review which events we want to attend as well as make plans as to what swag we want to produce. In the last few years we came together at the very scenic Castle of Beuggen which unfortunately wasn't an option for this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Gerold who was the organizer of these great FAD events in the past and did a magnificent job at it.
This years FAD is going to take place in my hometown of Leverkusen, Germany. Still on the river Rhein but in the western part of Germany right between Cologne and Düsseldorf. Probably not as beautiful as the Castle of Beuggen but I think I have found a place that enables us to have a focussed and productive environment to meet.
The date is (as usual) the first weekend of December which is
December 5th to 7th, 2014
If you plan on attending please head over to our wiki page for this event at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Rheinland_2014
to register.
As always there will be a evening event on Saturday.
Hope to see many of you there!
Regards, Felix
P.S.: Please make sure that when you register yourself for the event that you are definitely able to come. If we book accommodation for you we will need to pay for it even if you are not coming.
Just a little reminder: if you're interested in coming, please add yourself to the list as soon as possible. We're trying to bring ambassadors from as many countries as possible, so if there is no ambassador from your region signed up, please consider attending!

Thank so much, I hope still see you there. :D

I would like to put this in some budget context. I and Felix are currently negotiating with Matt and Ruth if the total budget will be $5000 or $6000. Given that the venue and accommodation costs $3500 we have $1500-2500 left for travel sponsorship. If we aim to bring 15 ambassadors there, it's $100-166 per person. It's hardly enough for ambassadors who can cheaply fly or drive from continental Europe. That's why we won't certainly have money for everyone. I've already spoken with Felix if we could set up some video conference for those who cannot attend physically either for personal reasons or because we don't have enough money for them.
Speaking of budget limitations it's necessary to repeat the criteria: I think it's fair to prefer ambassadors who have been recently active in participating at and organizing events, active in planning of our activities in EMEA etc.

The date is (as usual) the first weekend of December which is
December 5th to 7th, 2014If you plan on attending please head over to our wiki page for this event at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Rheinland_2014to register.
As always there will be a evening event on Saturday.
Hope to see many of you there!
Regards, Felix
P.S.: Please make sure that when you register yourself for the event that you are definitely able to come. If we book accommodation for you we will need to pay for it even if you are not coming.

Hi, because our budget is limited and we cannot sponsor everyone to come and because some of you cannot attend because of various personal reasons, we'd like to set up a video conference, so that you can be with us at least virtually.
Please add yourself to the list if you're planning to attend at least virtually: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Rheinland_2014#Virtual_Attendees
It will help us choose a solution because many of them have a limit of participants.
If you know of a solution for video conferencing for 5+ participants, please add it, too: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Rheinland_2014#Suggested_Solutions_for_Vi...
Open source solutions are, of course, preferred.
Thank you, Jiri
