OK, just make sure my syntax is correct; my RedHat Enterprise installation path is at /var/LZ. I left comps.xml the way it is I ran the pkgorder as follow PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/anaconda /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder /var/LZ/ i386 RedHat > /var/LZ/pkgfile It took few minutes to generate, and then I cd to /var/LZ and run the following to update my hdlist and hdlist2 /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --withnumbers --hdlist hdlist /var/LZ/ Afterward, I mkisofs. >From what I see, I think I may have miss a few steps. Here is my questions 1. when I rin pkgorder, is the output filename call 'pkgfile' or 'pkgorder.txt' 2. With the genhdlist command from RHEL 3.0, the switch --productpath=RedHat does not work. Are you running genhdlist a second time after you run pkgorder? eg. /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --withnumbers --productpath=Fedora /data/Fedora-Test/i386 /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder /data/Fedora-Test/i386 i386 Fedora | tee /data/Fedora-Test/pkgorder.txt /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --withnumbers --productpath=Fedora --fileorder /data/Fedora-Test/pkgorder.txt /data/Fedora-Test/i386 I don't know why but it seems that you have to run genhdlist twice ... Apart from that - don't be too scared to mess around with the comps.xml - actually something big changed in regards to comps.xml when Fedora was released. If you're customizing fedora - don't be scared - if you're using something earlier - check out the Fedora doc on 'editing comps.xml' - because the doc acually applies to pre-Fedora (even though it is on the fedora site) p.s. - don't forget to backup your original comps.xml before messing around :) pantz -- Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes ... I did generate a hdlist before I make the new iso. I just learn how to generate a pkgfile to solve another possible problem. The only lose end I have yet is rather I need to update comps.xml (which seem a bit puzzling). From what I gather from your email, where I am using ks.cfg %package section to control what RPMS to install, I DO NOT need to edit my comps.xml. It can get pretty messy if you add/remove lots of packages in your kickstart file, and adding/removing packages from comps.xml seems to be a cleaner way to do this. But it's really up to you what you want to do - I edited my comps.xml file and chopped out whole groups and added my own packages in a new 'custom' group. Hi I just discover this distro of Red Hat and it is great. It is made from the Redhat Enterprise v3.0 sources. There is no gnome no kde, just blackbox. Its a compact and good loking distro called EADEM.

.discinfo and .buildstamp correct, install cd still not found

Hello, I am trying to make a single custom install cd based off of RedHat 9. I am using the SGI-XFS kernel. I had the install cd working, but I don't like the "SGI_XFS" messages all over the place, and I'd like to change those. I edited the .discinfo file, as well as .buildstamp in initrd.img, stage2.img, hdstg2.img, and netstg2.img by changing the product to ARIEL, and the version (1.2.0) to 1.3.1, to reflect the more recent kernel that I'm using. I have since verified that all of those changes did indeed make it onto the cd. However, when the install process starts, it tells me that "the ARIEL CD was not found in any of your CDROM drives. Please insert the ARIEL CD and press OK to retry." So obviously it's using the new product name, but something somewhere is still reporting the cd as SGI_XFS. Any ideas?
