Access to floppy during install

Hallo, folks I am new in installing Fedora with kickstart. Most of the things I have done, but at the end of the installation I want to copy some files from a floppy to the new system. Does anyone know how to access the floppy during installation process when I'm in --nochroot mode? initram disk image and installation of Fedora Core

Hello I was searching for where is the initrd*.img file which is written to /boot during installation of Fedora Core 5 and which is the initram image used in bootstrap. I had searceh the 5 *.iso CDs of FC5 : I found 3 files which could be regarded as candidates but it seems to me that they are not the ones. theses files are : in the first FC5 installation iso: /isolinux/initrd.img /images/xen/initrd.img and /images/pxeboot/initrd.img So it seems to me that none of these is the one which is being written to /boot during installation of FC5 . So my question is : does the installer of FC5 run mkinitrd during the installation ? And if this is so, this does mean that on different installation options we will have differnet initrd.img files under /boot ? Or more specifically, the question which very much interests me is: Suppose I will configure FC5 to work with LVM (during manual partition) and suppose on a second installation I will ***NOT*** work with LVM: will the initrd.img under /boot in both installations be the same ? or even more specifically: Will the mkinitrd in the second case (no LVM) will be activated witn the --omit-lvm-modules option ? hello all I want to start with anaconda installer.I want to go into the root cause for how anaconda evolved.What structure was thought to follow.What was the primary design goal of anaconda or I can say what could be the primary design goal for any installer(os installer). Creating updates.img

Hello, I trying to test some changes to Anaconda using a floppy disk. I tried putting the updated python files on the floppy but that didn't seem to work. I believe that I need to create and updates.img file instead. The problem, however, is that I don't know how to create this file. FC6t3: buildinstall error

Hi all, I'm trying a customized of FC6-test3 within a installed FC6-test3 with all update from devel repo. When I do buildinstall I see errors: ------------------------------------------- ... Creating nsswitch.conf Creating libuser.conf Fixing up /etc/man.config to point into /mnt/sysimage Running mkfontdir... Creating SELinux policy... libsepol.policydb_read: policydb module version 6 does not match my version range 4-5 libsepol.sepol_module_package_read: invalid module in module package (at section 0) libsemanage.semanage_load_module: Error while reading from module file /etc/selinux/targeted/modules/tmp/base.pp. /usr/sbin/semodule: Failed! .... ----------------------------------------------- The CD is bootable but Anaconda crashed by giving the message: /usr/sbin/load_policy: Can't load policy, no such file or directory ... Do Boot Options Persist?

Hello, I have a question that relates to boot options and Anaconda. If I were specify boot options to the installer kernel, do these boot options persist after the install? That is, will Anaconda take the boot options I specified for installation and apply these options to grub for subsequent use by the system kernel? Anaconda - Kadischi LiveCD installer

I am working with some prototype installer Anaconda/Kadischi discs.. but to make that happen, Anaconda has been modified just a tiny bit. I have a patch here that deals with a make dev/root node that if it recieves an OSError it will pass instead of fail, which is required inside the LiveCD environment. I'm not absolutely sure this is the right way to handle this scenario however. Any thoughts? I also have a patch that makes Anaconda not fail, when trying to invoke syslogd when it is already running in teh LiveCD environment, and isn't in the same path as Anaconda would be looking for in a normal case scenario. Please look at the patches, and see if we can do something proper here to allow Anaconda to be spawned from a working LiveCD system. If anything, the patches at least provide a standpoint from my situation to explain where problems are occuring in spawning Anaconda on a running, Live system. Maybe the devs know a better solution than what is delivered in teh patches. These problems rectified brings it one step closer to having a LiveCD to system installer, which would be awesome. Hi,there, I found there was an item "Fill all space up to(MB)" in the "Add Partition" dialog.I did not know what was the difference between that and "Fixed size" item. I got the growParts function in the anaconda code and found that difficult to understand in a short time. Please give me some explained and analysis. Thank you very much.

getting anaconda to ignore disks
