Hello Mohammad,

First it sounds like you have enabled another repo, which is what you need to do. I hope that it was rpmfusion. If it wasn't the go to http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration and click on "RPM Fusion free for Fedora 20” and chose the option to open it with Software Install. Follow the prompts to install. Then click on “RPM Fusion nonfree for Fedora 20” and go through the same process.

Now open Rythmbox and it should popup with a prompt that wants you to search for a “MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder”. Click search. Then it will tell you that you need to install some plugins. Click install. Now you should be able to play MP3. (If you have already opened Rythmbox, you may need to go to the preferences and under the Music tab check the box that says “Watch my library for new files” then close Rythmbox and open it again.)

Now for videos I find the simplest way is to just install vlc. To do that open a terminal and type:
    sudo yum install vlc
once that is done, you should be able to play just about any video by opening vlc.

Now I am guessing from the fact that you mustn't have Evolution installed already that you are using KDE or something other then the GNOME copy of Fedora. So I think I might explain how to install any software on Fedora.

Now to install software I like to use a program called 'yum', but it is used from the terminal, which if you are coming from Windows may be daunting. But I highly recommend it. If you really can't use it then there is a graphical software center in both KDE and GNOME and the other DE's. (DE is a Desktop Environment). So let me explain 'yum':

To search with yum you use:

    yum search <program-for-which-you-want>

    e.g: yum search music
    or: yum search evolution

To install a package use:

    sudo yum install <package>

    e.g: sudo yum install evolution
and that ^ will install Evolution.

To remove a package use:

    sudo yum remove <package>

    e.g: sudo yum remove evolution
and that ^ will remove Evolution.

Now every now and agian you need to update the system so you can use:

    sudo yum update

I hope that helps. Feel free to ask for more help.

Good day Fedora users;
Can someone please help me out. I have just installed Fedora 20. I did have a play with Fedora 19 before, was bit daunted by the fact that you need to build everything (sort of) from scratch) but I felt Fedora is really stable, gets good reviews so decided to give it another chance in my effort to dump windows.

problem I am facing now is playing mp3 and video files. in Fedora 19, I added a repo of some sort I found on line that did the magic. It didn't seem to work on Fedora 20. I cannot play video files, I cannot play my mp3 (not on Amarok, Rhythmbox, or anything)

1- Can someone tell me what to do to play mp3, and video files on Fedora 20? Please something tested on Fedora 20, not previous versions if possible.
2- I would like to use Evolution for emailing. I downloaded it, and all I ended up with is an archive, I extracted it, so now what? how do I install it?

thank you
