Hi Everyone,
I have been testing F33 on Raspberry Pi 4 8GB and seems to be
booting fine, but it is still very unstable. I have been reading the Fedora
Meetbot meeting notes, and monitoring the Wiki for updates, but still
no updates on the Wiki since Oct of this year. On which Fedora version will
Raspberry PI 4 be officially supported? I think the last thing I read on
the Fedora Meetbot was kernal updates were holding it back. Any updates on
this?

out of personal interest, I am following this with at least one eye.
My understanding is, that RPi4 are not supported on f33.
Personally, I haven't experienced any instabilities, but my own use is
very limited. For example, I'm using it headless.
Where did you experience any instabilities?

There's been no updates to the wiki since October because there's
literally been no updates. That reason is two fold, one side is
there's not been huge changes to the status quo and those changes will
go into rawhide first, and maybe just rawhide if I feel they're too
intrusive or I don't have the time to ensure they're stable, second is
I've had little time or interest in the RPi of late.
All that said as a headless device it's been very stable for me in
some configurations. You don't say what variant of the RPi4 you have,
nor do you say what image you're using or how you're using it. The 8Gb
device is a pain in the arse, and anything with graphics is completely
unsupported as while the screen lights up there's currently no
acceleration what so ever and it's all done on the CPU and blitted to
the screen. The 1/2/4Gb models, the network/storage and mostly the USB
is all pretty stable.
To answer "when will it be supported" is currently an unanswerable
question, the upstream support is still very much in flux and while
I've been maintaining the RPi ever since first support was added in
F-25 my time and interest in actually doing the work to support it
well in Fedora is waning because of a combination of lack of time and
complete lack of thanks (and in some case even abuse) in combination
of the upstream giving close to zero shits about almost anything
upstream unless it suits them.

I can't promise much involvement but I'd like it as alternative to
ubuntu likes.

can you shortlist it?
Unlikely, as it is with a single release I'm testing over 40
combinations of device/software which now takes the best part of a day
as it is, to then back port all that work to another release, debug
any deltas between the two for issues and then retest across another
40 odd combinations is a LOT of extra work.

Peter deserves an incredible amount of credit for the work he as put
into getting an keeping these boards working.
That said, this situation is exactly why the SBSA/SBBR and now
SystemReady specifications were created by ARM. These vendor provided
BSPs don't scale, aren't secure, and leave people wanting to run
alternative OSs in the dark (be that Fedora, *bsd, or whatever).
So, in the case of the rpi4 I think the longer term solution is to stop
making the rpi Peter's (and everyone else directly involved in fedora)
problem. As such there is the PFTF which is aiming to create enough of a
platform abstraction to run unmodified linux distros/etc on the rpi3 and
4. Its a fine product for the rpi3 (uefi+dt), and a work in progress for
the rpi4 (uefi+acpi). Its still community maintained but the community
includes not just fedora, or linux developers but people working on
windows, vmware, *bsd's, etc. So the talent pool is larger. Its of
course an upstream first project too, and the pi foundation is aware of it.
It has been capable of running the base fedora iso/installers for a
while now. Of course with a number of restrictions, which are slowly
being worked through (besides the GPU, don't expect the bt for example
to work). So this isn't to say that fedora people should be spending
time on it, but rather a better long term solution for the rpi is to
make something like that the default firmware for the rpi so we don't
continue to have problems everytime the rpi foundation releases another
vpu firmware that breaks some critical part of linux (and yes the pftf
is frequently discovering regressions in the pi foundation firmware.)

It hasn't come up before that I can remember, but we do enable all the
pieces so it may work. Upstream support looks reasonably complete, it
appears to have display support upstream, although I can't tell about
WiFi so YMMV there.
The one piece that was missing was a link in arm-image-installer. I've
pushed that upstream now but you can test the equivalent with:
sudo dnf install -y arm-image-installer
sudo ln -s /usr/share/arm-image-installer/socs.d/AllWinner
/usr/share/arm-image-installer/boards.d/teres_i
The device is untested but I'd love to hear how you get on and what
doesn't work so we can investigate it.
