The dts file for the patched 3.13-rc4 that comes in the base image is
right
now at
https://github.com/xobs/novena-linux/blob/3.13.0-rc4%2B/arch/arm/boot/dts...
.
The branch (here:
https://github.com/xobs/novena-linux/commits/3.13.0-rc4%2B
) shows that there's a bunch of patches on top of 3.13-rc4. Some are board
quirks (all/most commits from xobs(a)kosagi.com), some are patch series from
Russel King and others that seem to be meant to be upstreamed.
Russell has been working a lot on the cubox-i and in particular HDMI
support, last I looked he had a series of 35+ patches that should be
headed for 3.15.
There's what appears to be a rebase of the same work, with less
patches,
against 3.14-rc2. Looks like some of the upstream patch series landed in
3.14-rc2.
There's been a lot of i.MX6 stuff land upstream over the last 3-4
kernels, it's improving rapidly.
What's current "universal" kernel rev on the fedora arm
builds right now?
What are the policies re patches with board quirks? I'll be happy to help
prep this into the arm kernel rpm, if it's acceptable, or to build a custom
kernel rpm with the appropriate patches.
So everything regard quirks should be going via a dts file for imx6
these days and then any driver changes to support the device. I
strongly suspect a dts will be enough to get you booting to a serial
console with sata/mmc/network/usb etc which is the state of most imx6
devices such as the wandboard at the moment.
Out side of that I noticed there's a non upstreamed sound and codec
driver but it looks like its under active review so I suspect that's
not far away. Assuming Russell's HDMI patchset land in 3.15 (and we're
all hoping for that for wandboard/cubox/utilite too) I personally
don't believe we'll need much else to make it mostly work well. EG
cubox-i just worked first time without any tweaks needed at all :-)
