Yeah, rewrite rules can be lots of fun but it would be an alternative
to
the URL shortener.
mod_rewrite seems perfectly reasonable if it addresses the issues.
Bugzilla uses this now to redirect

I almost wish autotest didn't include the test client host in the URL.
Otherwise I think it would be straight forward to redirect by shortening
http://autoqa.fedoraproject.org/results/140952-autotest/172.16.0.20/depch...
to
http://autoqa.fedoraproject.org/results/140952/<extra>
I could probably add multiple rules (one for each test client), but that
could be a pain.
