badges Physical !

Hi :)

It would be cool if we could have stickers for the badges we've earned,
right?

I've been looking into seeing how much it might cost
financially/logistically to make that happen. I don't have any budget or
anything for it, I'm just trying to figure out what possibilities there
might be.

I put together the research I've done so far on a wiki page in the
badges trac instance:

Please let me know if you have any ideas or would like to be involved in
this little badge-related side project :)

Thanks for looking into it.  It would be really sweet.  :)

One thing discussed at Flock was to auto-generate (or a close to
automatically as possible) 3d-printing specs from our badge svgs.  We
could then upload to thingiverse and link to the entry from our badge
profile.  Does that figure in to this effort at all?

I think Ryan looked into this and the artwork - as it is - is too
finely-detailed for something like this to work. :-/ Maybe if the size
was increased to a much larger size it would? I'm not sure though.

Yeah, I talked to Ryan about this and he showed me why the designs on
the badges will be difficult to automate into 3d models. Ryan and I can
do it by hand, but automating it will be troublesome.

If I ever finish writing this book, I'll have spare time to make 3d
models. :)
