On behalf of the Beaker development team, I'm pleased to announce that Beaker 19.0 is now available from the Beaker web site [1].
I'm particularly excited about this release because it includes the system page improvements which have been under development for quite a while. The other neat feature in this release is fully automatic database upgrades.
The release notes [2] have all the details, including a number of important notes for users who are familiar with the existing system page.
The detailed list of all changes made since Beaker 0.18.4 is also available [3].

Congratulations folks!
The ability to access Manual systems through the Reserve Workflow (including via direct link) is another nice improvement in this release, as it allows the use of the scheduler for time limited reservations, even if the system is otherwise unavailable for automated use.
Cheers, Nick.

Nick, I have done some initial testing using Beaker devel page. I am very concerned about how slow it is. To reserve a system it took almost a minute. Is this a devel only issue? Are we going to see that kind of performance in production?
Thanks, Jeff

This is a bit worrying. Performance in Beaker 19 should be overall better for a number of reasons. We have been running the 19 code base (in various forms) on beaker-devel for a long time now and have not noticed any issues.
Were you seeing long delays with the system page itself, when you were using it? Click a button, and it takes an entire minute for the request to come back?
Or was it just on the scheduler side? You submitted a job with reserve workflow and it took a minute for the job to be started?

Ah, okay. I guess the problem you saw was that your job got stuck at Waiting for ages.
I can see in the beaker-provision logs that it is processing everything very sluggishly -- taking several minutes for things that should be instantaneous. Not sure yet of the cause, I am investigating.
Thanks for taking the time to test and report this Jeff!

It turned out to be an IPv6 problem. Every HTTP request from LC -> server is attempting IPv6 first, but that times out after a while, then it falls back to IPv4 which works.
I have a ticket open.
