Followup on mash patches for configurable blacklist and whitelist

There are a pair of simple patches for mash that have been sitting
around for over a year now:

I brought them up in the releng meeting on Monday, but they were
rejected for discussion.

Any chance of getting them reviewed and merged this time around?

Principal seems fine, can't actually find the latest patches to review
